Over 5 months into the year- are you riding more or less than prior years?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am way up this year, but that comes after low points in 2018 and 2019 with some family member's health issues taking away all my free time. Last big year for me was 2017 and I will probably equal it or surpass it.

A lot more. Approximately 2x more in fact. I am forced to work from home due to the current situation so I have a lot more free time.

I'm on a pace to increase miles by at least 25% this year. Most of that is due to more miles in the morning before work. When I was commuting, I had to get up ridiculously early (before 4AM) to get in a ride. Now I'm working from home, so I am riding more mornings and going farther. Weekend riding is basically the same or perhaps a little more than last year.

I got a late start this season. It was unusually rainy here long into Spring which kept me off my bike. I'm trying to make up for lost time.

I'm up about 200 miles per month over last year, and will top 6k miles by June. The monthly mileage will probably decrease slightly, because I just bought a mountain bike.

I’m at 3x my combined total mileage for 2017 and 2018 together. Granted, only rode 300 total those years since I was traveling a ton.

I’m not getting in the miles I’d like though, my baseline endurance is way down and my body feels at mile 40 like it used to at 100 so I’ve been having trouble getting anything more than 50 done.

Much less. February and early March got busy at work, including some travel. Then my commute, which was previously ~90 miles/week, came to a grinding halt. Traffic didn't slow down as much as I'd hoped, so I played it safe with boring neighborhood hill intervals for a bit.

In the meantime, I've got some other life stuff to take care of. I don't think this will be a big mileage year for me, but that's okay.

I've been a mostly weekend rider the past couple of years. I started putting on the pounds and decided I needed to add some more rides. I'm trying to dedicate myself to two evening rides after work each week. My mileage is up and the weight is down.

Much less. I'm maybe halfway where I would normally be this time of year. I had the "honor" of being an essential worker and have had to be in the office doing my own thing while trying to manage a team that's WFH. It's been suboptimal, to say the least.

A little more than usual. As a high school baseball coach, I usually can't ride much during the spring. With high school sports canceled, I've been able to get out a little more than usual. The weather hasn't been great but that goes with the territory.

Starting last fall, I reduced my riding by about 50%. Irreversible health issues made the call. The current distress has had zero impact. (I'm an essential worker plus our local riding group hasn't cancelled any group rides. Zero hospitalizations, zero deaths in our county. COVID never really came to town, except for the widespread unemployment and business failures.)

My logged yearly average since 1982 is 6,055 miles/year. A quick check tells me I'll probably be between 6,500 and 7,000 miles this year.

1,162 miles so far this year. That's over 1,000 more than the previous 15 years combined. It's good to be back on the bike.

I have been injured throughout the vast majority of the calendar year. I don't have 10% of normal mileage. I am learning to do other things, like reading. At the moment, I'm not even capable of wrenching. Hopefully that aspect, at least, will soon change.
