Legendary Georgena Terry Bicycles were designed specifically for a woman's anatomy, particularly for women 5'4" and shorter. This Bike is a Georgena Terry Classic from 1996. Because of Terry's unique Frame Geometry for women this bike has a 700CC rear wheel and a smaller 24" front wheel. The frame is made from double butted light weight Alloy Steel tubing that is joined together with lugs. The bike has maintenance free sealed bearing hubs, a triple ring Shimano Biopace Crank (28-38-48 Teeth) with 6 gear rear cassette (16-28 Teeth), Shimano Deore Triple Front Derailleur, Shimano Deore Long Cage Rear Derailleur, Downtube Friction/Index Shimano Deore Shifters, higher end Dia Compe side pull brake calipers, and Terry Designed Elastomer Saddle for Women. This bike is designed for touring/road and city/bike trail travel with eyelets for front and rear racks. The triple front crank makes hill climbing much easier. Seat Tube--20" (51 CM), Stand Over Height--29.25", Top Tube (Seat Post to Front Stem--19".

I am including two new replacement 24" Panaracer front tires (list price $29/each) with three 24" inner tubes. Bike will soon need a new 700CC rear tire. Current rear tire is usable but old.

Is it wrong to want this bike just for the Cyclone components and bar ends? I'm curious about old Suntour on a custom steel frame. That's how I'd like to roll. Time to search the forum to see opinions on this. This site is fantastic for learning!

I only see a Cyclone rear derailleur. Plenty of folks have stripped a bike for its goodies and sold to someone who wanted the frame. Happens all the time. That's how I got my Raleigh Pro. I would not have done it but that's neither here nor there.

I still might be, but I had $55 on hand the other day and that has not increased. I must say I'm surprised that he's dropping the price so soon. Must not have had a single call. I do not know the guy but he's obviously been doing this for a while and knows his market. I put up a free dead chainsaw on CL yesterday and could not get to put the damn phone down until I yanked the ad.

I don't begrudge the guy making a few bucks on the bike; I've doubled my money a motor vehicle in just a few days but I hate to be the one paying the difference.

I certainly wouldn't strip a Raleigh Pro if it was decent, but that Fuji America looks like the rust might run deep. And being in a coastal town like Wilmington would only reinforce the possibility that the steel is too far gone.

Answer: It depends... If it's yourn bike, you get to do what you want. If it's a classic or relatively rare or unique, with original parts and paint, maybe you should consider using a different donor bike. Those bikes are relatively few and far between.


Last summer I broke a Campy seatpost bolt at my LBS and they had a Gitane TDF closing on ebay that night. I won, picked it up the next morning, and sold the frame (it was too small for me), and used the other components on other projects. Not original components, it was a well loved and ridden bike that had plenty of swaps...


My original (repaired) Ron Cooper is basically full Campy, just like it was BITD.


A Cooper frame I bought in Feb. was intended to be all Cyclone group... but I can't find STD length calipers, so it currently has early Modolos (thanks to Deux Jambes) and some Suntour parts from other Groups.

I have a Teledyne Titan with 144 BCD Sugino cankset, 1st Gen DA calipers, and Cyclone shifting system/Suntour 5 speed winner freewheel. I cheat a little with American Classic blade spoked wheels, but I have a set of Weyless hubbed wheels I can throw on it.


So there's my answer, by example. Go for it!

I hope all of you are happy! Someone or several someone's have been buying all of the old cheap non-huffy 3 speeds here. It honestly seems like we're scraping the bottom of the barrel, for some reason.

Yep, bottom of the ST, maybe Columbus, couple of the FB pics have a little better angle and lighting, odd still if it is with no model decal to be seen, Schwinn usually tells us exactly what model a bike is.
