Back on this thing. *shrug* It's not especially pretty and the steel was a smoother ride, but it's reliable. Kept the cockpit I was using on the GT because changing handlebars on road bikes is too annoying. Funny how I bought those Cinelli bars for my track bike, hated them on there, but actually like them a lot for the road. Fit feels better now with the 130 stem too.

I noticed this on another riders bike when I first started riding back in the 70's and ask why he didn't cover the entire bar. He said that he races and takes the bike apart too much to bother, that most racers tend to do it that way. Ever since then I thought it looked racy and have done it this way on sportier bikes.

I think it was @johnnytheboy who said, "Its called cleavage, and its sexy as hell."

I don't need to use the extra piece of tape and none of my bar or clamp is showing.

It's called a cheater strip, and if you know how to properly wrap bars, you don't need to use this. Our shop does not use these when wrapping bars. We have a bunch of them stuck to the legs of the benches in the shop to show that we don't use them.

I just picked up this Jack Taylor tandem for my wife and I to ride together. I was able to inflate the tires this morning and it all works fine. Shifts, brakes,
rolls. I do want to replace the cables and housing though, rewrap the bars, new seats, new toe straps at the very least. New tires soon too as these have been sitting flat for years. Color/part suggestions?

Only very sad that I have to sell off my BMC to pay back my savings account for the purchase.

For the record, I'm not fond of this change, but open tubulars don't have enough flat protection.

Hah, didn't even notice - wrapped the bars and went for a ride right away. I might screw with the shifter position on the bars and have to rewrap anyway, so, meh?
