Maintenance Question
Hey I have 2006 Norco Pinnacle, haven't ridden in about 5 years, it's been in a dry basement and I'm picking it up today. I'm just wondering what I can do to get it road-ready again. A shop is kind of out of the budget so I'd prefer to do it on my own. Just not sure if all it needs is a re-greasing/lubing or what. Any tips are appreciated thanks.

Pump the wheels check if they keep pressure. Then check everything else just by watching. And then try to ride and see if there is any problem.

Pump up the tires.
Check condition of tires. Cracks, dried rubber, etc.
I'd probably oil the chain. Measure the chain for chain stretch, or pull up on it on the large sprocket.
If the bike has had minimal use, it may be good to go. If it has been ridden hard before putting away, then it may be past due to service hubs and bearings.

Clean and relube the hubs, headset and bottom bracket if any or all of these are cup-and-cone bearings. The old lube will be suspect after all of this time.

At 5 years old I would expect to replace the tires and tubes whether they hold air right away or not. A little lube on everything else should do it.
