Rear rack for 82 Fuji?

Rear rack for 82 Fuji?
I have a 1982 Fuji Supreme 12 speed. Looking for recommendations on a good rear rack for it. Typical old school style 10-speed frame. 27" tires.

There are lots of racks that will work, type depends of whether there are eyelets above the rear brake caliper where two upper rack struts are typically attached, or none. If the latter, there are racks that can attach to the rear brake bolt with a single strut. The upper strut(s) typically does not need to be all that strong, since it’s only providing stability.
Eyelets above the rear axle for the vertical rack struts are much stronger than “P-clamps”, but those work if yourrack load isn’t too great.
If you have a local bike coop, they probably have plenty of used racks to check out. If not, here are lots of them from one of my favorite online vendors:

If you want period correct, there weren't a lot of options in 1982. Blackburn was basically all there was, and almost certainly that's the rack you would have bought with that bike if you bought it new. Maybe Pletscher. Blackburn EX1 is still a good option in a moderately priced rack. Most modern racks are essentially knockoffs of Blackburns. You could save a bit of money and go with a Planet bike or Topeak or something, or get fancier and go with Nitto or Tubus.

For me it would be a Blackburn. They were and to some extent still are the standard. And if it were me, I'd get it in silver finish. I am not a fan of the Pletcher racks. They slide on the seat stays. They cannot take much weight either. One way to keep a Pletcher rack from sliding is to get a piece of aluminum or steel and drill two holes in it. One for the brake bolt, and one for the center hole in the rack. Measure the distance, attach your new piece and the rack won't slide.
Or get a Blackburn like rack.

I had to drill out the screw holes on my vintage Blackburn due to the unusual 6mm eyelets on my wife's '82 Fuji Espree.

In the OP's case, the VO rack would likely be worth more than the bike. See if your local bike coop or bike flipper has a used rack available for $15 or try one of these.

Yes you are right and it was more than I paid for this bike too (my best acquisition ever). The rack was a gift to the new owner of the bike in my family.

I ended up with the Versa Rack from Planet Bike. It fits well. The attachment bolts for the lower braces were not compatible, so I swapped those for the right ones. Other than that, so far, so good.
