Cane Creek wheels

Hi folks,
Does anyone have experience with Cane Creek wheels? The co-op where I volunteer recently pulled a set off a bike because they didn’t match the vintage. They look interesting and the design concept was advanced for the time, but with only 16 spokes on the front, how reliable are they?

Thanks & regards,
Van

I have no experience with the Cane Creek wheels but I do have a set of Shimano WH-R560 wheels. The front is radial laced with 16 bladed spokes and a modestly deep (~24 mm) rim and the rear has 20 spokes laced radial driveside (that's not a typo) and 2X NDS.

So far these wheels have well over 25,000 miles and are still in perfect condition having never needed any attention. So, the 16 spoke configuration isn't necessarily a problem.

Me or the OP? I'm about 150 but I ride on a lot of rough, poorly maintained roads so the wheels have not had an easy life.

I weigh 180. These came off a 62cm/24.5in Bridgestone RB1. Also, had 23mm tires mounted. FYI, front wheel is radial spoked & rear is 2X on DS, radial on NDS. Can’t imagine someone riding that size frame being light enough for that combo

Cheers,
