Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i live in connecticut.

most winters i can ride quite a lot on the road..., but this winter has been terrible - i have a 24inch snowpack, and haven't been on my bike since early december.

i've been doing a lot of spinning, and have taken up XC skiiing.

skiing is great, except that i have managed to strain groin muscles on both sides.

I second that with just a minor change: "I do triathlons so running and the dreaded swimming are the other things I do to keep in shape." Although, I have found that swimming is so good for you and really will loosen you up. Doing some stretching somewhere in there (yoga) really helps, too.

Cycling is my cross-training. I'm a soccer player so the bike is my switch up from running. I also enjoy Crossfit.

for me, having a strong running routine makes everything easier on the bike + snowboarding (when i can get it in) is fun and a good break from typical sports activities. also, doing lots of floor routines (while watching tv) with light weights and high reps helps core strength.

Nice. I dig. Just had to give you a hard time.

FWIW I like to waste ~30 min a day playing 1st person shooters on line

cycling is my cross training for running. running is part of my job and I need to improve all the time so I ride, do elliptical, swim, and lift free weights. I do not consider rock climbing and hiking part of my "training." that is family fun time.
