Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

6700 to 6880 or r7000

Is anyone running 6700 front and rear derailleurs on 11 speed either 6800 or r7000. I can get 11sp shifters and already have 11sp wheel and cassette I can use. Actually I am right now running r7000 cranks on it perfect. Rather than full upgrade I am thinking just shifters.

6700 and 6800 have different pull ratios for the shifters and RD. r7000 is the same as 6800 for pull, so that also wouldnt work with a 6700 RD.

Yes I know being a mechanic but I heard Leonard Zinn said it still works because pull on 6800 less so easier. Just checking and of course somethings shimano says do not work but do. Realizing that it all depends.

If you can get the shifters, might as well throw in a derailleur - new shifters are a lot of money (and a bit of labor), a new derailleur is easy and cheap in comparison.

That said, the 10 speed rear derailleur has about 10% more cable pull than the 11 speed, meaning it won’t move as far with the 11 sp shifter. But considering there’s 10% more gears with 11 speed in almost the same space, it needs to move about 10% less distance laterally. So mathematically, it’s actually pretty close. I’d be surprised if it shifted absolutely perfectly, but it’s close enough that I would give it a shot. And worst case, if it’s a super junky combo, it’s only about $60 for a new rear mech…

6800 and 7000 have the same pull ratios. 6700 and earlier shifters pull less cable.

OP, I tried the Dura-Ace version of your question. No, it did not work at all. Landed up buying 9000 series derailleurs.
