Scroll down to cudak888's post about wrapping the Eddy way. Starting at the stem, wrap outwards, plug the tape in at the bar ends. No finishing tape. Very clean look. Since snapping those pics I've put on Velox bar plugs.
Any chance you could post a pic of the logo at the top of the seat stay - see my earlier post

Found a similar bike for sale which looks to have the columbus bird logo there rather than the word wilier. Looks like yours is the same so I'm hoping to prove the one I've found is genuine and not a rip off.
The OP has not posted since March of 09 so he may not be checking in much. As noted try quoting him and see if he replies.

It starts peeling down on the shoulders of the bars. depends on what kind of gripper you are and where you spend most of you time on the bars too of course. Me.. I've wrapped that way and it ends up peeling back and looking shabby. So I wrap bottom up. But yeah it looks real clean. The other way to get the clean finish is super glue. I have done it with cork tape to get that perfect finish.

Holy resurrection!

I tried finding a pic of the seat stay in my computer, but no luck. The bike is still in my possession, though, and I'll try snapping a pic tomorrow.

Sorry about the crappy image quality – my camera seems to be breaking down, and I couldn't make it focus properly. Hope you can make out the logo well enough...

Thats perfect - the bike I found has the same logo so looks like I've also found a little a bargain. Not quite as cheap as yours but not bad. :-)

In that case, you are almost certainly copper plated, even if the bike isn't.

Yes it will.

Eddy had mechanics that rewrapped his bars daily.

Yes, it certainly is beautiful (even though it isn't "copper-plated"!). Obviously, pictures can't quite do justice to the way this bike shines in the sun...

And thanks to all for replies regarding the drawbacks of wrapping the Eddy way. To me this is hardly a problem, as this bike doesn't get ridden all that much. But it's a nice, clean look.

Photos don't do the bike justice. I have seen that particular model in person and it's so gorgeous. I can't wait to see it again. I've seen the frame being ridden in town once a year...

I don't know what's more cool regarding this thread; that beautiful bike or the fact that the OP is still around and still owns said bike!

Holy resurrection, indeed

All of my bars are wrapped from the center outward and though I can see how some cork tape might have problems with hand movements, none of the bars I've wrapped in cloth have shown any sign of issues even with substantial mileage on them.

Ya beat me to it, unworthy1. Here's another Wilier with a cromovelato finish - snapped in the street in Mantova, Italy a couple of years ago (there are more photos in the album):

I do all my bars from the stem out to the bar ends as I dislike the sticky tape, both aesthetically and because it always seems to come undone eventually. I understand your concern as I shared it but found it not to be a problem if you really pull the tape tight as you wind it on. YMMV

My bike finally arrived from Italy, slow postage is an understatement

Anyway it needs a little TLC here and there but I thought I'd share it anyway
