Dommage you did not find it last month.
Would have fit right in with noglider's multi-coloured thread...

It's not often I see something and know what it is, and the expertise here astounds me, so feeling slightly pleased with myself. CYFAC
My CYFAC built MaxiSports/Castorama
The Troc bike. Initials are the builder, GH or HG

Those Raleigh frame where made by Francis Quillon (Cyfac), the bill was paid by Polymark (Raleigh & Reynolds importer for France) as for the Systčme U & Castorama team bikes.

For 289, the magnificent planetarium/Castorama livery is a repaint, it appear in 1992.
It is possibly:

So it is CYFAC, That's what I was convinced of! Thank you, I've been wondering who my MaxiSport was made for...

However...
The fork, although painted to match, and with a nice Columbus decal has a different serial. Who is MP (or PM)?

It's not coming to me
He had a quick look at sending it and the first price scared him, €1000. I tried to persuade him but now he's got someone else going to see it. Maybe they're on the forum...

For MP , it is first the name and then the forename.
In 1992, Francis Quillon/Cyfac built approximately 650 frames.
No idea for this MP, that year, no MP in the team Castorama & ACBB was with Basso bikes.

The boss at Cyfac told me that if the frame was not built for a specific rider, it was the builders initials.

To my knowledge at this time, 1991/1992, Francis Quillon was a subcontractor and only built custom frames. There are many examples where the two letters correspond to a rider.
He made me a custom frame in 1998 and Cyfac did not exist as a bike brand, he did not buid for particular customers.
He made me an other one in 2001/2002 and Cyfac existed as a brand. Between 1998 and 2001 there was a new numbering.
On none of these custom frames there are any initials.
I presume that the bike brand Cyfac and the new numbering start in 2000 with the team Jean Delatour - Cyfac.
My 1998 Cyfac was anonimous, no decals.
As 894 and 895 are in alphabetical order, the initial/serial numbers for the ACBB frames should be approximately:
AF around 877
BP
BT
BJ
CG
CD

I feel the need to fill some of those numbers in. Let the search commence... Thank you Giuanin, this kind of stuff fascinates me.
894 went to a 'collector' apparently so may be hidden in a garage or restored and reappear at some point, who knows.
