Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It would help if you had a relative working here. Nepotism at this place is rampant. Off the top of my head I can think of five kids of former employees. All but one were hired before their parents retired. Another employee's niece recently got a job here. Another employee has his stepdaughter and his sister working here. I sometimes joke that if I had had kids they would have been guaranteed jobs.

Remove everything from the head back. Install headers. Bang....done.

Have you spoken to someone at a muffler shop? They could probably fix it in a couple minutes unless it's all rusted out.

Mom has an unusually extensive collection of floor cleaning contraptions, hopefully one is a carpet shampooer that I can get in there.

I knew you would figure it out.

My mechanic would be happy to fix it. For $500. I can get two split flanges for $10. I don't mind doing it myself. I just have to be careful not to hurt myself like Trainsnorter with a chainsaw.

$500 probably includes a bunch of new parts. I would send stuff out to a muffler shop and get it fixed for a fraction of what I could do it for at the dealer.

Good luck!

You could use the tried and true easy, temporary fix. Cut both ends off a tin can. Cut it lengthwise. Roll it up to the proper size (spring-loaded even) and jam it into each piece.
I will second the emotion of taking it to a muffler shop and replacing everything from the head back.

I can hear sound system testing for Made in America from by office.

Enjoy the rest of your days and the long weekend. Day trip to Brooklyn tomorrow to drop off the car. Train home. Sunday I will be driving SAG for our club's ride to Brooklyn, saying the night (van owner will drive it back to Philly) and driving home early Monday morning.

A grinder is 60 bucks and if you're lucky and the car has a fuel leak...get video.

Many years ago, I dropped the last key to my U-lock down the elevator shaft or something and I told the federal cops at work that I'd be coming in at such and such a time to grind it off. They said fine, no problem, and brought a fire truck into the garage to stand by while I did it. Great cops. A locksmith call would have been $100 and I got a nice Makita grinder out of the deal.
