Boerne Texas
Good morning,
I'll be visiting my sister in April for a week and she lives near Boerne. Was thinking about bringing a bike and riding a bit.
Any suggestions on fairly low traffic roads etc would be appreciated. Tim

Not from Boerne, but I don't believe heavy traffic roads will be a concern. However hills may be.

I'd check with the local bike club in San Antonio; I'll bet their members know the roads in that area.

More info on where I'll be based, my sis and brother in law live in Fair Oaks Ranch. A couple of roads near my sisters place that will get me to Boerne are Ammann and Deitz-Elkhorn. I rode in a car on Ammann years ago, but don't remember much about road width, shoulders etc.

Did you ask the folks in the Texas regional subforum?

Maybe the San Antonio Wheelmen can help you.

Very rolling, little traffic. My route was from Bullis Park to Boerne with a stop in Boerne for pastries.

Some of the best riding in San Antonio is at your beck and call. If you google the San Antonio Wheelmen you will find some maps for Boerne. But also rides from Comfort and Bullis park are in the same area. During the week you shouldn't see a lot of traffic away from the main roads and they should be accustomed to seeing cyclists. Wildflowers are still blooming and the heat is still tolerable so you should definitely bring your bike.
