Miele Serial Numbers?
Just picked up a pretty sweet Miele in blue, wayyyy out on Long Island. Are there any Canucks out there who can put aside their spectacular health care plan and dole out some info on the date and model of this puppy?

I'm going to think good thoughts and see if I can't coax T-Mar this way!

Pretty hard to pull up info on classic Mieles, they're nice bikes, but you are SOL on getting decent info. :-/
They come in everything from Columbus, Tange, Ishiwata 4130 to reynolds 531 and a variety of groups.
The best you can do is guess where in the hierarchy it falls into based on the group set and tubing.

Well, let's see if we can do a little better than SOL.
The decals indicate mid-1980s, as does the rear derailleur style. The colour is solid and the wheels have Presta valves, indicating at least upper entry level, However, it does not appear to be a matched groupset, indicating no better than lower mid-range. Beyond that, I will need some better pics of the major components and tubing decal (if any) and/or descriptions with brand and model. You can also date the components using the date code info at https://www.vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htm . If there is no tubing decal, knowing the seat post diameter would be a big help. Often, it is stamped on the post, just below the insertion mark.
BTW, that chain seems to have several stiff links.

Whoo-hahhh! Thanks T-Mar
Yeah, the rusty chain was the first thing to go (soon to be securing my Brooks Pro on another ride). I had everything off the bike and sprayed it down with thinned Simple Green and got some great looking stuff after about 2 hours.
The brakes and shifting system are Shimano. The crankset is Sugino um....SG? or SA or...I'll check when I go home. The tubing is Ishiwata but I can't remember what designation it said. The pedals are that cool 80's aero-style and MKS I think.
The frame came out reaaaal shiney. Very exciting.

I have nothing to add, except these ads that I scanned from my old magazine collection.

yo
very cool Scott, thanks.
I'm gonna get some pics up of the near-done cleaning and prepping. It's looking pretty hot but I'd like to get some input on a fair asking price before I put it up for sale.
