Peugeot Ventoux(unknown year) Was it worth what I paid?
I got this Peogeot Ventoux Reynolds 501, seems like it is in good condition but don't know the year of it. The previous owner says it is around the 70's. It has Cinelli stem and handles, and other than that I can't seem to see any other brand names on its components. He sold it to me for $125 cause he is a close family friend.

If you want any specific picture of it just let me know.

It's mid 80's. Here are the Peugeot brochures. First year looks like 85 listed as the PH501.

It looks to be in good condition. If you are going to ride it does it fit you? Where I live in VGC ready to ride, new bar tape, cables and good tires it's a $250 bike IMO. Looks like a 1986 but your bike has aero brakes so that would be a replacement/ upgrade. The white Ventoux seems to sell for a little more, especially a smaller frame since the ladies like them.
Here's the one that went through my hands. I wanted to put white brake hoods on it but it was a flipper so...... Nice riding bike. I am not the Peugeot expert but he might show up.

Well it is a little taller that I'd like but it is definitely tolerable for me. How good would you say the brand is? Or is/was it a good buy?

Assuming the mechanical condition is as good as the apparent cosmetic condition, I'd say you got a good to very good deal, depending on your local market conditions. These were good, lower mid-range models and popular for club racing and fast recreational rides. The orignal price was $400-$450 US, depending on the exact year. It's either 1985 or 1986 but isn't quite a prefect match for either. There should be a label on the underside of the bottom bracket or chainstay, with a serial number that may narrow down the year.

My '87 Ventoux just bought the farm after 22yrs of abuse. (Paid $275 in early '88 for it)
$125 sounds good if all's working well.

If it's not a flipper then you got a solid deal, I recently purchased the same ventoux, same model and color scheme, but for $65 bucks. It was in rough shape all things considered though.
