'Tis the season for political silliness, so to give equal time, how about a pic of your bike with a Donkey AND an Elephant, can be two separate photos, no stuffiies, almost anything else allowed, statue, live on the hoof, billboards, whatever. Good luck!

I thought for SURE I'd beat you Left Coasters to the ATM, but no such luck! I looked all over the place this morning - maybe East Coast people don't do outdoor ATMs? (I haven't touched one for ~15 years, so perhaps they're a thing of the past...)

Wow, there must be 10 of them in a 2 mile circle of my house, and I'm not even in the city, but out in the 'burbs.

Yeah, I could ride for an hour and submit at least a dozen outdoor ATMs. We've even got those where it's a little drive up hut all on it's own, with just an ATM in it.

At last a couple of daytime pictures from me

The elephant

Town musicians of Bremen, from bottom to top: a donkey, a dog, a cat, a rooster (based on a tale by brothers Grimm)

While I was getting ready to take the shot of the musicians of Bremen, a women came up and asked if I could move my bike, because it's in the way for her to reach the statue. I was perplexed, but did as asked. Then she proceeded to rub the snouts of the donkey and the dog while muttering something to herself (I'm sure the cat and rooster would have gotten a good rub too if she could reach them), then left. I didn't know there were locals who had such good fortune rituals (or whatever it was).

Next mission: keeping with the animalistic theme, let's see a marine mammal - dolphin, whale, seal, sea otter etc. Rules the same as before - live, a billboard, a statue, etc. all acccepted, but no stuffed or other kind of toys.

Town Musicians of Bremen in Bremen:

There is also a sculpture by Bernhard Hoetger, Jugend (Youth) who has been polished by molestation for “luck”.

Got to hear Angela Merkel in the town square though.

Nice job on the critters. I could probably find a burro or two around here, but the elephant would be hard. All i could think of was the giant mastodon at the La Brea tar pits. Too far for a morning ride, nice find!

Dr. Isotope,

I spent last weekend in the San Bernardino area.

My brother and I road the Santa Ana River Trail from Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino to Arlington Avenue in Riverside. It's a lovely trail despite the homeless encampments and the ATVers who use the trail as a shortcut. Some of those ATVs are the size of cars.

My brother, his wife, and I also rode the Pacific Electric Trail from Cactus Avenue in Rialto (or is it Fontana?) to Starbucks in Etiwanda (or is it Rancho Cucamonga?). Our ride was cut short by a flat tire. The trail is wonderful - no homeless encampments and no ATVs - if a bit flat.

Yes, this statue in Riga is a version of the Bremen original, presented as a gift from Bremen city in 1990 (Riga and Bremen are sister cities). The thing around the musicians is supposed to be the Iron Curtain which they are peaking through, instead of a window, as they do in the tale.

Not seeing any dolphins yet, so here's mine. The giant sun dial is a memorial tribute to the Alaska Airlines crash off the coast of Ventura. Hard to see, but the dolphins are at the base of the pointer, and my gold Raleigh is the bike on the right. Hard to get it all in one shot. When I got home, I realized that our club jerseys have dolphins all over them, plus I found a real one from 2011. I was on the bike, but it's not in the picture. I just liked the picture and wanted to share it.

Base detail with dolphins.

Incorrectly identified as porpoise, I think its a bottle nose dolphin. We see them a lot, just past the surf line.

The actual city hall building was in deep shade but one side of the sign was fine. This was a kind of breakthrough to me. Last time I rode over there I crashed doing a U-turn on the path. See picture.

To get on the path to downtown I needed to come up the path on the right (toward you). And then turn and get on the path on the left and head away. Note that little hill and grass in there. While I was making that turn my wheel got caught in the grass and down I went. Skinned knee and jammed finger.

Now I’ll hopefully be better having done this time successfully

target for next person: electrical substation with lots of wires and transformers and stuff.

thanks

Electrical Equipment. Request: Roadkill

Centerpoint Energy substation.

I've had Loudon Wainwright III's "Dead Skunk" running in my head.

Target: Your bike and some roadkill. Bonus point if it's a skunk.
