I love single speed mountain biking. More than road. Live too far from trails right now to justify keeping one around.
I've had a Surly Krampus and Kona Honzo, both super fun bikes. I feel the itch coming on again and I really want to try the All-City Log Lady or a Niner.

Fresh Garbage
I think it is an awesome bike but it is the only modern mountain bike I have ever taken to the trails. I bought it used, the original owner swapped the fork out because he said the stock one was too stiff. I don't know the geometry specs by heart but it is a fast maneuverable bike. It is a 2011 or 2012 so you can check the numbers on that. You have to check if that chainstay length is with the wheel all the way forward or back in the dropouts, since it has sliding dropouts.

I have not been riding my SS MTB as much these last 5 months, since buying my new squishy MTB. But, today I had a great ride on my SS. I had forgot how much fun it is to ride. Now, I need to remember to give both bikes equal love!

Ah, the Redline Monocog. A true classic. I was disappointed that they discontinued the belt version, the Redline Monobelt. Jenson still has a steel 2014 Redline Monocog 29er on sale for $599 (from $1400) but it's size small. If it was a large, I would buy it just to add to my quiver of singlespeeds. :-)

Love the 'Cog...I had a couple different steel ones - my 1st going back to when they were 26". Great budget-oriented mountain bikes but certainly never $1400. In fact IIRC that $600 "sale price" is more like the original MSRP. I think maybe Alu, Flights, &/or belt ones might have been that high but certainly not the good ol' standby rigid steelie, so don't feel bad

Speaking of steel singlespeeds, anyone out there have a Spot Rocker? Although it's expensive and heavy (steel, duh), I've been salivating over that bike for quite some time. Belt drive, Boost spacing. Sexy.

That spot is nothing special and not worth anywhere near 3 grand.
Entry level bikes should have entry level prices. A belt drive does not cost $2000.

I have been eyeing up this bike since I sold my Kona Honzo (steel SS 29er) and Surly Ice Cream Truck Ops (fat bike) earlier this year. Snagged the frameset from the LBS on a Small Business Saturday sale. Bough some parts here and there over a couple of months and finally got to build it up last week.
Bullmoose bars and the segmented fork are my favorite touches.
Tires measure out to about 2.7" on the Pacenti DL31s (26mm internal/31mm external) and set up tubeless in an instant.
Hoping to start shredding some singletrack soon.
Frame:
All-City Log Lady - Large, A.C.E. tubing
Fork/Headset:
All City Log Lady segmented fork / Cane Creek 40 headset
Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
RaceFace Turbine Cinch crankset / RaceFace Cinch BSA30 bottom bracket
Pedals:
RaceFace Æffect platform pedals
Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
RaceFace Cinch 32t chainring / Absolute Black 20t cog / SRAM chain
Handlebars/Stem:
Nitto Fairweather Bullmoose handlebars
Saddle/Seatpost:
Thomson Elite 30.9 x 410mm seatpost / Fizik Antares VS saddle
Brakes:
Shimano SLX M675 hydraulic brakes / 160mm IceTech rotors
Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Shimano XT M8000 hub > Sapim Race spokes > Pacenti DL31 rim / Panaracer Fat B Nimble tire
Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Shimano XT M8000 hub > Sapim Race spokes > Pacenti DL31 rim / Panaracer Fat B Nimble tire
