Winter commute Quebec City Quebec

Morning
My job is going to take me to Quebec City for a month Jan/Feb time frame and I am wondering how winter commute friendly Quebec City is. The apartment is in the old part of town Rue Garneau and would be riding out to Jean Lesage Airport. Too ride choices are either a mountain bike with studs or a fat bike without studs. Anchorage AK has me spoiled because only around 4 of my 11 mile ride is on a street. The rest is on a MUP.

good luck with that. As I recall, the shared bike lanes are not bike lanes in the winter. Should be an interesting commute!

I never commuted in Quebec City but going from Old Quebec to the airport looks like a challenge to me. That being said, if you speak French (but you can try English), you may ask on the Vélo d'hiver Montréal Facebook page, some people there may help you. I also found a Facebook page for winter commuting in Quebec City and you may ask the guy that runs the Vélubaniste website.

We're only beginning to have some winter infrastucture here in Montreal, so winter cycling in Quebec City is still rare and mostly unsupported, AFAIK.

Still, I hope you have a good time in Quebec City

We visited Quebec City, the old city, a few summers ago and what stuck out for me was how steep the streets are. If you're commute takes you anywhere near some of those street, and with ice and snow too, oh man...good luck! And I believe Quebec City gets a ton of snow in winter.
