Help me figure out a few good routes to ride - Melrose Park

So.. Here's my trouble. I just moved to melrose park from highland park. In HP I could ride across the highlands, out to the lake, west along lake cook and enjoy the overpasses.

I could find "hills." or at least decent overpasses.

Well, now I'm in Melrose Park. Bordered by Lake Street and North Ave. The best thing I can find is the Mannhiem road overpass that crosses the rail yard.

Where should I go? Where can I find fewer stoplights, and hopefully something hilly.

You're braver than me, riding Mannhiem!

You can get on Wolf road in Burbank (@ St. Charles) and
head south to 91st in the Willow Springs / Burr Ridge area.
It's probably 10ish miles. Lots of nice rolling hills with fairly
low traffic, shouldered roads.

Cheers.

Edit:
I commute between 91st & Cass in Darien and York & Grand
in Elmhurst via Wolf Rd. pretty regularly, FWIW.

I do most of my riding LATE at night. Partly because I have a big aversion to sunlight, and part due to my dislike of heat. Late at night does have another benefit, traffic isn't so bad. Tonight was a ride down Lake, to First ave, down to Cermack, and back up Mannheim.

This morning, I am enjoying the sounds of the rail yard assembling new trains.

I will happily try the wolf road route. :-) I remember there being some nice stuff out in burr ridge. But I wasn't riding bicycles back then.
