Colnago C50 Buildup
OK
Without starting a battle. Acquired a Colnago C50 Frame and fork. Now taking my time. What is the collective wisdom? Considering Sram Red, I am sure to get a response for Campy camp. I have DA on my other bikes. This bike would be built to do longer rides on our chip and seal roads which can be hard on the bones.
Would like to build as light as possible of course. Thoughts on stem and bars. Thoughts on cranks. Other choices include wheels, have Reynolds Assault, Easton EA90 or fulcrums would go better with Campy. Will send pics soon, frame is black 2008. Interested what others have done. Constructive thoughts appreciated. This is the dream bike.

well i just as well put my campy vote in...
edit: and either fulcrum or campagnolo wheels are a great choice.
i hgear good things about easton wheels but have no personal experience.

The bearings in easton wheels tend to suck. Put campy on it and get a pair of euros instead of fulcrums if you are going to go with campy. They are the same thing, both made by campy, but they say campy on them!

We can't advise you without first seeing pictures of said C50. I love SRAM, but go Campy if money is no object. I loved demoing bikes with high end campy.

Well, any of the high end groups work extremely well but I gotta add to the Campy pressure here.
DA is a superb group but Pavarotti didn't sing in Japanese.
LBS owner did our last Saturday ride on a Pinnarello with the new Super Record. Beautiful and certainly as innovative as anything out there using cables.
Di2 is another level but so far out of my price range that it's just a fantasy. If you can afford it though we might just hearing some Japanese tenors.

Any groupset WILL work. If all you are going for is function. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Campagnolo and Colnago just sems so right! Like Ferrari and Momo...peanut butter and jelly....pickles and ice cream...unicorns and glitter...

I say go with Sram Red.
I know two guys locally with C50s, and one with an older C-40. They all have Campy. Everyone insists on putting Campy on a Colnago (there is a legitimate heritage), but following that trend will just make it another Colnago with Campy.
Try something that you don't see as much and see what you think. Additionally, if you go Sram, you know all your current wheels on your DA bikes will work, should you have any problems.
Of course, I also have a teammate with a Pinarello Prince with Sram Red and another teammate with a Willier Cento Uno SL with Sram Red.
