Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've got those shoes and really like them.

As a follow-up - this is now my favorite piece of cool weather outerwear on or off the bike (most rides with it have been casual - feels wrong to get all sweaty in it, even though it's made for it). Zipped side and back pockets and a full, double zipper front. The hood is fitted and light enough to wear under a helmet. Stays warm in rain, although it's not a really tight weave, so breezes can work their way in. I think that it'll be great layer under a light jacket for winter riding, too.

The "essentials" for the new Jamis.

The axiom bag I got is a little different... longer with red trim on the back. Couldn't find a photo online.

Yup. I skipped the one with cadence-- I'm a bass player with a good sense of time, so I can keep aware of that.

I'm still getting the hang of it. At the end of my ride today, I managed to erase my metric century/ maiden voyage worth of data coming up the driveway.

Still a lot better than my $9 Sigma on the Panasonic.

I ride to work in the dark from Oct to March. My colleague was struck by a car while traversing a signalled crosswalk. He was hit on the side from a car turning on a red light.
This light will flash if desired. $20 on sale at REI with coupon.

I'm hoping to avoid a similar fate.

Got the same frame sixate. Dunno the actual weight of the frame alone, but it is wicked light!

Campy Chorus 11s 2011 Gruppo... shortly after getting a 2009 Cervelo RS frameset and 3T Ergonova Team bars and stem... more purchases to come to complete the build... this sport can be costly, but like I told my wife, this is the equivalent of her gym membership for me... I'd rather ride than be stuck in a gym...

Don't ride in the cross walk and that will help as much as better lighting. There is a reason riding on the sidewalk is illegal.

Although this isn't the place for it, in many states, riding on the sidewalk is not illegal. Please have a little compassion for this guy's friend.

I'm sorry, but in NJ its the law to stop to pedestrians in a cross-walk. Some streets are so crowded with parked cars that they offer no option for riders but to ride their bikes on the sidewalk, mind you this is not 20mph peleton riding.
