Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2014 Specialized Dolce. Axis Hubs maintenance ?'s

Helping a cousin refurb her 2014 Specialized Dolce Compact. Bike has some miles on it but is in basically good shape, and cleaning up nicely with some elbow grease and TLC.
I am hoping the members of this forum can help me with some questions about hub maintenance. The bike has Axis 1.0 wheels and hubs. When I remove the skewer, hold either wheel (front or back) and give the wheel a spin I can feel resistance in the hubs (bearings?) and they dont feel like they want to roll smooth. The guts of the hubs feel a little rough or choppy? I'm guessing that is no good. Are there any resources for breaking down and rebuilding these hubs to be smooth and free again? Thanks!
