depends on what you've rode before.
depends on what you need.
the frame flexes, I swapped the ST BB for outboard, and it helped but I still felt it. the fork is over built and brutal on bumbps, yet it still can be flexed /twisted when ridden hard. It's a heavy bike so the 50/34 is a bit over geared.
I had a Sora equipped Crossrip, the BB swap did help the front derailleur though. however I could still rub it on hammering the hills.
While I am brutally harsh with my opinion on the bike. I will say it makes for an awesome grocery getter. OR maybe explorer at a leisure pace. it even works for old man club rides. (i trolled them with the plus gravel tires on pavement)
It's no go fast bike.
with that said if your only concern is the claris, then do some price checking for 105 take off groups. add it to the cost, and check your budget.
IMO it also depends on the age of the claris, the new claris is the old sora, it works.
