Soft travel bag choices: Bike Friday

I've seen some discussion of this on this site but not focussed enough to help. I'm getting a BF Pocket Llama. BF owners: are there good substitutes for the BF soft travel bags (standard and compact)? How much of a hassle is it to pack and unpack the bike in a BF compact bag? I will be traveling on trains and buses, not by air.

I have whatever travel bag Green Gear was selling for their Bike Fridays back in '93 - no idea if it's standard or compact. No issues with either bus (Greyhound) or train (Amtrak) travel. Just do the normal quick folding (rear triangle folds under, seattube/post folds down, stem pulls off) and slip it into the bag. No disassembly required. But the size is definitely over the airline limit of 62" (L+W+H).

Dahon Carry Bag works greaat as a soft carry bag.

I also make the Bike Burrito whicg I find practical. (Picture posted in the lead "backpack thread" in this forum. Could post later pics if both.

Burrito is quite compact.

Thanks, all. Bike Friday says you have to remove the front wheel to get the folded bike in their compact bag. I'd prefer a smaller package but I don't want to complicate my train and bus travel. Glad to hear that the standard bag is easy to use.

I have a friend who hits Charity shops for soft sided luggage for his bike old Friday, for tours then abandons it at the airport that he rides away from.

learn the maximum size before oversize charges kick in, then bring a tape measure..

We use the standard bike friday bags and they work great for buses and trains. Just fold the bike, racks and all and in they go. No Problem. You could always make a cardboard box and then bag it with bungees or straps to meet the airline 62 inches.

Virtually all luggage made in the last 20 years is under the Airline size.
