Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2015 Trek Madone Project 1 Series 7 vs 2015 Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0

I am looking at purchasing my first proper road bike, having ridden cheaper ones in the past. Have decided to go for a second hand bike to get more value for money. Currently looking at the 2015 Trek Madone Project 1 Series 7 and the 2015 Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 and think they both look good on paper.

Have tested the madone and compared to the new models I had tested for the same price, it blew them away. I know I should 'pick the one that feels best', but I am yet to try the Giant as this will be difficult due to hours of the shop and distance from me.

Does anyone have any experience with these two bikes and can provide some advice?

If you can find a way to work in a test ride on the Giant, you should definitely make an attempt before coming to a conclusion.

Where is the rear brake located on the Madone?
