Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Per the Urban Dictionary:

Moop:

The area of the body located between the testicular sack and the entry hole of the anus. Characterized by smooth, soft skin and supple features that are totally awesome.
He just got kicked in the moop!

My moop is sore!

Try a new saddle. I've also felt that pressure in the "moop" after a long ride even on saddles that are supposed to be ergonomic (Specialized BG.) It's definitely a sign that the saddle is no longer working for you... many soft saddles lose their shapes over time. I personally like Brooks (which actually gets comfier w/ time) but have also read good things on the Selle Anatomica.

this is true. I've noticed it myself on a selle italia prolink, which has give in the middle much like a specialized toupe. I've never ridden a brooks, they feel like a real asshatchet to me.

Yeah, those Brooks sure give that impressions being made of hard leather, but the reality is that they are so friggin comfortable. Having said that, I understand they don't work on about 20% of people who try them. The good thing is that they keep well their resale value, unlike other saddles.

Hey Busta, didn't you tear your sack a while back? Maybe you got a shoddy repair...

I am testing this saddle right now. Today was the first ride with it for 33 miles. No discomfort like my old saddle an no pain in the boys. Going for a longer ride tomorrow. Mounted on the bike it doesn't look bad. I was also going to try an Adamo road.

Spend more time riding it than parking it...problem solved.

In all seriousness. I have the Evolution version of this saddle and it's been wonderful. Took some getting used to because of it's minimal padding, but no more numbness during rides, and now it's really comfortable. It also help with back tightness because the 'swoop' in the saddle requires less "push back" needed from the arms. Body stays balanced on the saddle and handlebar pressure is reduced = win-win.

I use a fizik arione versus - has a taint channel. I can't seem to ride saddles without a groove, or things start to get compressed. I don't seem to require a full on cut out; the channel is just enough to keep the weight off my soft fleshy bits, and on my sit bones instead.

Other than that, it's always been about proper positioning - both the saddle to the bike, and my butt to the saddle.

2 suggestions..

1. check your posture. tilt your pelvis properly and you shouldn't have issues.

2. stop masturbating just before you ride. it can make for a very uncomfortable time in the saddle. wait til afterward.

I just bought that saddle and went on a quick 25 mile spin today. So far, so good! Hoping to do around 40-50 miles on Sunday and hoping it feels as good as it did today.

Learn to sit on your perch bones (ischial bones). Otherwise your just sitting on a pound of flesh and that's going to render you numb, sore, neutered, and alone on Saturday night (with all the other numb, sore, & neutered).

if I start to get issues it will be both the hands and the balls at the same time, means I'm not riding hard enough, get that weight off those hands and balls and put them on the legs, where they belong.

Oddly enough if I go really slow and sit upright I'm fine, if I go really fast I'm fine... there's a middleground where I tend to notice occasional issues.

Thanks. I've been riding 20 years. I know how to use my sit bones.

All the sophomoric comedy on this thread notwithstanding, scrotum discomfort can indicate a serious problem. When my balls all of a sudden felt odd on the saddle, I complained about it to my PCP, and -- long story short -- I was in treatment for testicular cancer three weeks later. Nowadays (and two lovely children later), my shorts fit a little less tight.

I understand. However, my issue is not with the beans - it's just an irritation on the outside of the beans' container from the nose of me saddle.

Good! I mainly wanted to suggest, to anyone reading this thread, that nutsack discomfort isn't merely an occasion for frat-boy humor. It can literally save your life to take it seriously.

As I recall, Armstrong's cancer started in his testicle(s), and he wrote it off for a long time as just being saddle soreness.
