How many rides a week?

No ride today after 3 consecutive days. I know tomorrows ride will feel great because I’m taking today off from the bike. I’m just curious how many days a week you guys ride and opinions on rest days. I’m not riding for any specific goal or event just want to stay fit and mentally healthy.

Six rides/week and one rest day when executing a formal training plan for an event.

Four or five/week otherwise. Rides tend to be longer and more scenic rather than repeats or intervals.

Four to five, but if my Monday night meeting cancels or moves closer to home, I have sometimes done 2 weeks straight...that's 5-days commuting plus a Saturday and Sunday ride. But usually after 4 or 5 rides my body hints for a rest day. My brain, however would like to ride all day everyday.

3-4 generally with 2 or 3 15 mile rides in the morning before work and a 40-60+ miler on the weekend.

I do travel for work though, every 2-3 months so will miss some ride days or an entire week on occasion.

Commute to work so 10 rides per week (125 miles per week) with a ride on a weekend from time to time (weekend is often cottage time so not much riding then).

Lately I have been averaging about 75-115 miles per week ... rest days when it rains or i just don't feel like it. Rest days are really important, as are light days, or as some call them "recovery rides." I'd rather take a day--or a couple days--off then wear myself out and have to take days off.

About 3 to 4 days per week, several of which are commute days which include two rides each. Almost every week I do at least one weekend ride that is between 40 and 100 miles. My commute rides are shorter, between 2 and 20 miles depending on whether I go "the long way".

This time of year I can get out at sunrise when the winds are calm and the temps are perfect (65-75). During this time I average about 4 rides a week. (50 - 100 miles per week), it just depends on how I feel. The most I will usually ride in a row is 3 days.

Also commuting, so 10 miles a week. Don;t ride unless commuting, so weekends are rest.

I'm retired so I have ALL THE TIME I WANT to ride and wife lets me go out. That being stated, I TRY for 3 times/wk. Haven't ridden yet this week but plan on getting out shortly as long as the roads dry up and weather stays clear for an over-niter. Will be looking to ride a relaxed 75 to 100 miles....

A thread like this in the over 50, needs to be a "poll"... So a quick glance will tell everyone what the "average 50+ " does per week... JMO.

Commute 5 days/week (34 miles each)
Sat: 60-200 miles
Sun: 15-30 miles

But if I have a big ride (DC or tough climbing ride), I'll take the day before off. That really does help me feel stronger the next day.

I have previously posted about my goals and reality:

Having a mileage-based training schedule however, effectively motivates me to make time to ride. I have the opportunity to commute a minimal 14 miles one-way during the week (Commuter Rail home), and round-trip on Saturday all year-round, for about 100 miles a week.

During the nice weather, I’d like to put in about 150-200 miles to train and do long rides.

In reality though, I probably get in about 20-30 miles per week during the winter, and maybe about 75-100 during the nice weather (to include early evening rides).

That’s exactly what my ride schedule is. I ride anywhere from 40 to 60 miles per ride.

Been trying for 4 but at least 3 a week. 10 miles, but I trying to go a bit faster each day. Smoke from Yosemite fire is settling in the valleys up here and making it a bit rough. Did the inside bike today.

Usually three. Saturday with my club. Monday I do a TT in town. Nothing official, just me out testing myself. And, Wednesday with a sub-set of my club. Sometimes I substitute a ride with my GF for the TT. I think I'm doing about 70-80 mi./wk. FWIW, the group rides are usually around 14-15 mph w/60 ft of climbing per mile. The TT is only 6.4 mi. with about 300 ft. of elevation at 18+ mph. It's my HIIT ride.

I just wing it, whatever I feel like doing. Usually 3-5 rides a week, 20-50 miles each depending on whether I'm riding solo or group. Sometimes shorter rides if I'm mostly doing errands.

I stuck to the same non-schedule after both shoulders were injured in May (hit by a car) and I was cleared to use an indoor trainer. For 2-3 weeks I used the indoor trainer 3-5 times a week, watching TV. For the past couple of weeks I've mixed in one or two outdoor rides a week, although it's been ridiculously hot as you know living in Texas.

Nothing wrong with resting when you feel like you need it. I took Sunday off and will probably take at least Monday off -- felt queasy Sunday after a couple of rides in temps well over 100F. And I have a couple of medical appointments, so I won't have time to ride. Before the accident I'd occasionally take three days off if I felt stale and wasn't enjoying the rides. I try to avoid going more than a week without riding. It gets too easy to stop and harder to start again.
