Cannondale Slate 105 owners?

I bought a Fuji Tread with a 105 groupset, and have been pretty happy. Mostly roads in the spring/ fall seasons, instead of my road bike. I've been interested in the Slate 105 for a couple years, maybe because they are quirky, interesting bikes. I did check one out at REI, but they were out of smalls. Any long term owners out there?

Ok, my research seems to point out it's a nice do-all bike, but obviously not a popular choice at the price point. Makes sense. Ebay has these offered at $1399, a seemingly good deal for a decent bike, and conversation piece. My Fuji Tread was a bargain from Nashbar. Half the price at about $699. The dearly departed Performance even price matched it, since they were the same warehouse. I guess I just like the look, and interesting design. The gearing on the 105 is more for road than trail climbing. I'm waiting for the urge to pass.

I bought an Ultegra Slate for $1500. I just dropped it off at the bike shop for some semi-serious upgrades. I'll shoot pics of it next week. I'm going to put some more time on it, but looking to swap out the frame soon for a Seven Evergreen SLX but keep the Left Oliver set up.

The 1399 ebay ones come with Lefty Solo fork which is very different than the Oliver. The whole point of a Slate is to use the Oliver.

My bike has the Lefty Oliver suspension fork. If you're patient.....you'll find them for half off.

They seem to be pretty rare. Nice to see "they're" spelled correctly in this day and age. I'll keep a lookout. Hopefully I won't ever find one!

What are thoughts on the 2018 105 with rigid fork for $1100? Can't really find any reviews on the rigid fork. Thanks

Good deal. If you are lucky and check ebay constantly you can find an oliver for a good deal. I was able to snag one for $400. The rigid fork is just that, a big chunk of aluminum that is stiff as all hell.
