If you will be in LOS ANGELES on FRIDAY the 13th, you better be here:
(quoted from www.bicyclekitchen.com)
Midnight Ridazz - May's theme is "The Prom Ride." Get your finest evening wear ready for this one, make sure to get permission from the folks cuz you're gonna be out late! And be sure to find yourself a date! Every 2nd Friday of the month meet 9:30pm at Pioneer Chicken Echo Park Blvd just North of Sunset. Ride departs at 10pm. Please don't litter.
----------------------------------------------
This has gotta be the bestest chill ride ever. Good peeps, beer, bikes. What could be better? Always a great party at the end. And you get a free spoke card. I mean, for reals. Gotta check it out.

I'm going, but no ride will be possible. Lord of Chainrings is the day before sis graduates from college! Huzzah!
Daddies excursion will be full. (those damn things are way to ****in' small on the inside. If you really need to get a large vehicle and a truck is out of the question for some reason, skip the SUV and just get a ****in van. C'mon dad.)

2005 kyotoLOCO is coming up 23-24 september 2005.
https://www4.pf-x.net/~kyotoloco/index.htm
from the website:
-What is KyotoLOCO?
KyotoLOCO is a celebration of our beautiful way of the life. And our aim is gain a common awareness of our job and culture.
KyotoLOCO-a grass-roots event promoted by only 8 messengers -is recognized as one of the most important worldwide messenger event just like CMWC, ECMC and NACCC. Last year, 60 messengers from the USA and Europe, and 340 from other cities of Japan participated the event. We are expecting lot more to join us this year.
-Why in Kyoto?
In economic scale, Kyoto is not competitive with Tokyo, Osaka, or Nagoya where almost all business happens. Yet, many people consider Kyoto as heart of the Japan. Besides Kyoto is the oldest city of Japan that has full of historical residues, the city is known for invention and innovation. There are 32 universities 21 colleges here. The students from all over the world bring their culture and new idea into the tradition.
And definitely Kyoto is the hub of the bike culture. Large majority ride bikes not cars. Exchange among cyclists with different interests is very active. Our web is on the street. Thanks to the size of the city, every time you go around the city, you meet a friend on a bike.
Please come visit us and join KyotoLOCO this year.

[For those that don't know the Bike Kitchen is an awesome cooperative, do-it-yourself bike repair shop in SF. Its a fantastic resource with all kinds of spare parts and helpful advice. Last year they had the dopest tandem track stand competition]
SATURDAY, MAY 21 AT THE BIKE KITCHEN, 11AM TO 5 PM.
Come help us celebrate the Bike Kitchen's two-year anniversary. Last year's party was a success, but this year's will be even bigger and crazier. All ages are welcome to compete in our bike challenges, everything from the Slow Race to the Tube Patch King to the Huffy Toss. Cyclecide will of course be there with a bicycle-powered ferrris wheel and other extra-terrestrial contraptions, and we'll also be offering bicycle blended smoothies.
At 3pm, judging will begin for the HOMESTYLE BIKE COMPETITION. We have a panel of judges made up of some of the brightest Bay Area bike luminaries. So bring your fanciest, nuttiest or classiest homestyle bike and your could win our grand prize: $100 cash. And of course it wouldn't be a party without a barbecue, music, and a raffle with tons of great prizes. Train-wreck DJs Nathan and Jef Leöpard will provide the tunes.
See https://www.bikekitchen.org/ for more details

This from the friendly DC DemonCats...
We have just been informed that we are to throw the D.C. Mayhem Alleycat!!! The race will be held on Sunday, May 29th, 2005.
The name of this year's version is called the "Holy Mayhem!!!" and will consist of 20 checkpoints scattered throughout D.C. Each checkpoint will be worth 100 points and points will be awarded to finishing order (i.e.: 1st place-100 pts, 2nd place-99 pts, 3rd place-98 pts, and so on down the line).
Race fee is $10.00. Start time is 2:00 p.m. at Dupont Circle. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m.
Not sure what the prize list will consist of. It may come down to our secondary motto: "Racing for Victory and Free Beer!!!".
There will be a keg of Yuengling at the very least! I know the Left Coast is going to ***** because it is the same weekend as the NACCC, but the fact is that I don't know of anyone going to the NACCC. At this point in time, if you don't have your plane tickets to PDX, most likely you're not going. No disrepect toward the organizing committee of the NACCC is intended. Just that if you are not racing there, you might as well be racing here!
Not sure yet what is going on in B.more or RVA.
Also as a reminder to everyone, next Saturday is the "SCRABBLE" Alleycat is in RVA next weekend on Saturday, May 21st. It should be a BLAST!!!

hi, i am hosting weekly races in brooklyn, ny at prospect park meeting at 10:00 at the grand army plaza entrance. bring a few bucks to throw into the post for a cash prize. this is for fixed gear and single speeds, but all are welcome to come and check things out and see what is going on. it is going to be a weekly event.
this week, may 24, will be the first time so it might be a little wierd but i hope it will be fun. perhaps there will eventually be sprint and skid contests depending on how things are going.
thanks!
