Quick loop around the lake and over Queen Anne Hill last night because the sun was out. Hill repeats tonight.

Short, less than a mile round trip to the bank, PO and grocery store, which for me tends to be an almost daily run, unless done on the way home from a longer ride.

Since the 300K, we've done another approx. 135 km of cycling ... a couple rides in the Brisbane area (beautiful cycling there) and a couple slogs back here in Tasmania.

This is a very busy weekend for me with assignments due next week, so not much cycling. However, I did want to get out for a little while today, so we decided to cycle the Pipeline Track - a 12 km well-groomed, off-road track ascending partway up Mt Wellington. It's a bit of a climb on the way out and a nice cruise on the way back for a total of 24 km.

It's really pretty up there, and good to get away from the city and the traffic, etc.. This trail (and others like it) don't have any cars.

Fern Tree to Wellington Falls | Greater Hobart Trails
Pipeline Track

That Greater Hobart Trails site is a good one to find trails around the area for a variety of activities:
Greater Hobart Trails | Bush walking, bike riding, mountain biking, horse riding and urban tracks in Hobart, Kingborough, Derwent Valley, Clarence, Glenorchy & Brighton, Tasmania Australia

I went out twice today.... Once early in the morning to a grocery store and then later on to another store to pick up something.

Do you ever use your bikes for transportation and errands or is majority of your riding strictly recreational and training rides ??...Me personally I stopped doing any longer distance recreational rides and now only ride for transportation few times per week, not everyday like I used to since I also drive regularly few times per week.

I only bike commuted once this week, (Wednesday, I think) as it was blizzardy or icy the other days. It's nicer today, but still below freezing, and I don't ride much on weekends at that temperature. I might walk if I have a local errand or for exercise, or take the subway if I go downtown, or drive if my wife and I go out. I'll probably get more motivated to do some weekend rec rides as it gets warmer.

Heavy weight lifting and other forms of high-intensity resistance training 3-4 times per week. I have my own weights at home, I've been doing them for a few years, some days I also go outside and do outdoor workouts, cold weather doesn't deter me from doing what I enjoy doing.....Actually I am just about to leave home now and go to a local park and do a bunch of pull-ups, push-ups and few other exercises.

I rode to work and back on Monday, 14 miles each way. It's getting really painful to ride. I've seen a podiatrist, and I'm going to see another.

On days in the city when I don't ride, I take the subway.

Tom,

Keep in mind that even though your feet hurt most, or only when riding, the real cause might be your street shoes. Those are the ones you spend the most time in, and if they're tight or bend the big toe, that causes the bunions, which then make cycling painful.

Not saying a revisit to the footman doesn't make sense, just reminding you to step back and look at the big picture.

Last time I was on my bike was April 23rd, the day of my 50-mile charity ride. Work, weather and softball practice (kid's first year) just gets in the way.

It's been two weeks since my last confession... waitaminute... wrong forum. But yeah, two weeks... some dental surgery that turned-out to be significantly more painful and longer-lasting than anytime prior -- I should've taken the scrip for Vicodin the dentist offered me, but no-o-o-o... I'm an ath-a-lete, doh! Anyway, I need to run errands tomorrow morning -- you know... public library... food, veggies, Wine and Spirits (I gots me priorities right). It's gonna be weird, but food for the stomach, food for the soul... and the weekend... be OK.

pain management and bicycling are a tough mix. It's like a catch-22. pain can make hard to focus enough to ride, and that's if you can overcome it enough to be motivated to try. OTOH - most pain killers that are effective, affect you in other ways and riding a bicycle falls into the "run machinery or drive..." catchall that you shouldn't do.

Best of luck putting this behind you.

The weather was perfect here (in the Midwest) today. I mowed the lawn in the morning (while it was still really cool). Then rode my old original 20 mile loop.
