Shimano BBR60 Italian thread installation. To grease or not to grease?
Hi,
The install of this look really straightforward. I have all tools needed
My question is this: to grease or not to grease
I have always greased BB installs
Park video says grease
Shimano tech doc does not say anything
The BB is self seems to have pre applied loctite stuff (and the color on the italian thread is blue, while on the english thread bb has more of grayish color (yes i have to....saved money over all with a grouppo buy)
Since it is italian thread, get the drive side cup in tight and so it won't work loose is important
So grease or no grease
of course I may be over thinking this

I've started using purple loctite on some of my parts including the BB.
I just had an old Campy DS BB cup that just unscrewed... So, it is going to get a good cleaning, then go back in with the loctite.
I haven't had to take a BB apart that I've used loctite on yet. The new Campy cups have replaceable bearings of a sort.

I have not had an external bearing style Italian threaded BB ever work loose. Had old style square taper ones work loose, but not the external ones.
You should be fine with the thread prep material supplied by Shimano that's on the threads, just snug that sucker down tighty tight.
