Beer for carb loading
I just saw a YouTube video about a town in northern Mexico where almost everyone in the town could run 100 miles.
The research showed that the runners were running bare footed and that they were drinking a beer made from corn. The beer supposedly supplied all the energy needed for this great effort.
look into and try this at your own risk. Obey all laws.

Infomercial? Could corn be the next superfood? Did the ancient Olmecs have secret knowledge about the plant that scientists are just now discovering?
I doubt it, but that won't stop people from trying to sell it as such.

Begin my 100+ mile rides having 1 water bottle with sliced lemon added that I eat after water is gone and 1 water bottle with O'Doul's NA beer.

I am sure they are eating other high carb foods besides just drinking beer. It's also genetics, these people have been desert runners for hundreds of generations.

Yep. just like people from northern climates cross country skied for hundreds of generations. I think when people engage in the same activity for generation after generation after generation, adaptions are definitely made that get passed on to succeeding generations.

Yes, you should read "Born to Run" by Chris McDougall...he has another one, equally as good and with some historical perspectives called "Natural Born Heroes".
I know a guy who for years has claimed beer is negative calories...he's ~70yo now and still doing Ironmans.
