Good Deal On Wheels and Group? - Rad's Latest Acquisition
I picked up a set of 3 year old Mavic Ksyrium SSC-SL's and a full Dura Ace 8 speed group - all of it pristine and mint - for $850.
But the owner felt compelled to sweeten the deal by attaching them to a handbuilt, lugged, 853 steel Waterford 2200 frame. Even tossed in a Chris King Headset and a Syncros Titanium seatpost. Again, all in perfect as-new condition.
Better pictures coming soon.
Did I do OK?

Where do you find these deals? I think you did just fine! The wheels alone are probably worth $400. Nice goin', Rad!

me = jealous
If I were vigilant about watching craigslist, eBay, and my local classifieds I suspect I'd be able to find killer deals, but I never remember to check any of those.

Beats mine by a wheelset. Waterford X-11 cyclocross. Mine looks like same vintage & color, came with OP/Ultegra wheels and full 9 speed Dura Ace group. After I jettisoned the Paul's cantilever brakes for $100 (didn't fit well) and replaced them with a $20 set that works better, I'm into it for $820. Well, until I bought a second wheelset for it which I run road tires on. Weighs about 20 lbs!
I think you're going to like it.

Here is the craigslist ad. More on the story behind the owner and my experience later.

I changed the pedals, adjusted the seat height, tweaked the bars a tad and checked everything over. Then I took it for a neighborhood spin.
Wow....can you say "buttah?"
This is the first "whole" bike I've acquired since 1989. Though I was originally drawn to it for its parts, I'm not sure at this point what I will do with it. Besides ride it that is...

Oh yeah, great deal on that bike, RAD. I can't wait to see studio photos of the new bike.

Frankly, Paul's are really wide too. I figure eventually they'd get bent when hit. Also helped me justify the purchase by lowering it's effective price. The new ones are fine, though the least bling component on the bike...
Again Rad, nice bike, especially with the wheelset.

Rad - obviously, you have no wife. Either that or you never let her in your garage.
