Transformation.

Some of ya'll know my weight loss story but mostly I want to thank Cycling for helping me transform. I'm still working hard to become a real cyclist but I've come a long way. My first bike ride,I didn't make it a half mile up my driveway without having to walk. I think I could easily do 50 now on a good road bike. I ride a MTB and have only done about 30 miles in a day and some 100 mile weeks last summer.

Here I am at age 50 with my son 360lbs here

Here I am yesterday at age 51 about to ride with my dog. 170 lbs here.

Keep Cycling guys, and decide to live rather than waiting to die.

Wow, great job with the weight loss and health improvement (I'm sure)!

30 miles on a mountain bike is no joke but sadly, you must lose the Trek before you become a real cyclists!

Hey, I'm just kidding, we ride Trek too!

Good looking bikes man. That Trek was the best I could afford. Got it for $250. I'll post some pictures on a new thread showing places I ride, but the MTB was necessary. I'm about to buy a 1983 Schwinn Voyageur SP if all goes well. I need the different bike experience before knowing what I might spend big $$$$ on.

We started that way too! A couple of hybrids about $300. I ran off into a roadbike soon after. Then a year or two later, she got into a road bike. Then later, a more expensive bike.

But I got my roadbikes for $1000 on sale and just upgrade them as needed, worn components etc. As long as you get a good frame.

I love Trek, couple of issues and free frame replacements as original owner. Great warranty.

The bicycle and as perfect a diet as I could eat. By as perfect as I could, I just mean that my diet has changed as my knowledge on nutrition has changed.

Diet, you are what you eat! I am type 2 (NO MEDS, THE DUDE DOES NOT DO MEDS,NOT EVEN PAIN KILLERS). Brought A1C down from 7.5 to 6.1 via eating the right things.

But I will tell ya, when I eat something I am not supposed to, 2 or 3 days before a ride, I really feel it.

Nice job, it's hard to be perfect!

RH Clark What a fantastic example you set for your son (and any other kids in your family). And that is very real! Not only will you reap the benefits of improved physical and mental health, but so does your family.

I really needed to read something wonderful like this today.

Thanks for sharing the good news.

Congrats! I did a modest 30-pound goal several years ago and have kept it off (even went lower but bounced back up). Takes a lot of discipline and can be life changing. Worth it and you can blame bicycles and thereby justify further expenditures!

Fantastic work!! It's def life changing. I've kept my weight off for over seven years, first running and now cycling.

I'd say if you can do 30 miles on a mountain bike, then you can def do 50 on a road bike.
