New bike suggestions with SRAM Red

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New bike suggestions with SRAM Red

Thinking of a new bike my basic criteria:

1) Has new sram red with disk brakes.
2) Light weight , 14.5 pounds or less.
3) Nice light weight carbon wheels and perhaps tubeless .

Your suggestion are appreciated.

Number 2 sounds difficult, maybe I don’t know my bikes well enough. What are you looking for? Race? Endurance?

I just purchased the Canyon Ultimate Evo Disc 10.0 SL, which was about 13 lbs with no pedals or accessories. The final weight with Speedplay pedals, cages, Garmin mount, etc is 14.7 lbs. I’ve been extremely impressed with the bike so far. It is perhaps the fastest and most responsive bike I’ve ever ridden. It’s a rocket on hills, without a doubt, but it’s also fast and smooth on flats, even though the wheels aren’t really “aero” wheels. I’d say about the only downside I’ve experienced so far is that the rims are so lightweight, they can’t handle tire levers for tubeless tire installation. I cracked mine. Argh. The more I talk to mechanics, however, the more I’m of the opinion that it’s a very bad idea to lever a tire onto a carbon rim.

It’s tubeless ready and ships with tubeless tires and rims. You just have to remove the tubes and add sealant. The tires that are shipped with the bike are the lightest Schwalbe makes, however, to beware that they aren’t likely to last long. Mine flatted on the second day. I replaced them with Specialized Turbo Cotton “Hell of the North” tires (running tubes) and they have the same plush, fast feel as the Schwalbes but with more strength and durability.

The bike also comes with a power meter, which is a big plus. I use power meters on all my bikes. The all-carbon saddle seems a little over-the-top, but it’s actually pretty comfortable. I’ve done a 2 hour ride in that saddle with no complaints at all. We’ll see how I feel after 4 hours.

Anyway, I believe this bike checks off all your requirements.

The new Giant TCR should come close, especially if you swap in lightweight wheels - although it isnt an endurance bike. And likely the new Emonda that's coming out soon.

Yes the Canyon Ultimate Evo Disc 10.0 SL is a contender. Glad you like it. Wish you could get it with different wheels.

For sure. I have Zipp 303 NSWs and they are fantastic wheels. Super all-around wheels and of course great aerodynamics. But the DT Swiss wheels are much faster on flats than I thought, and they are unbeatable on climbs. The NSWs will cost you about half a pound, though. I would honestly give the DT Swiss 1100s a shot if you spend any significant time in hills. If you stick to flats, the Zipps might be better.

Oh, I missed that requirement somehow. I think you're going to have a very tough time finding an endurance bike of that weight. Most of the super light bikes I'm aware of are race-oriented.

Still doesn't help the OP because he's looking for an endurance bike with disc brakes.

Get a H2 frame.

The Domane is similar but over 14#.

that’s a great suggestion. I’m hearing there’s a new Edmonds coming soon. An H2 Emonda might work if the OP wants an endurance bike because of his fit needs.

14lbs is gonna be nearly impossible on a Domane.
