I want to put this 26" rim (from my Raleigh hybrid) onto my Moto Track-



And am wondering if these tires will fit the rim?

The rim used to have a 26x1.95 tire on it but I slayed it.

Or if anyone has another place I could get a 26x1" tire for cheap ($20-$30ish) please post. My LBS has one for 50 but that's more than I wanna spend on one tire, just for messing around with the look of my bike. Although I don't mind spending $50 for a pair.

I think the (stock) fork could take a 1.25" wide tire, but I'm not sure if it can take something wider than that with the 26" rim on it.

26" tires are apparently rare and pricey when it comes to thinner sizes like 1". I'm just looking for something cheap right now as the budget allows.

what is the exact point of you putting a 26" wheel in a frame designed for 700c, when you already have the 700c wheel?

They won't fit. The rim used for 26 x 1.95 is the MTB standard 559mm. The tires you are looking at are for the old 26 x 1 3/8 standard, which was 590mm. Not even close.

However, there ARE lots of other tires specially intended to fit MTB rims and offer lower resistance...several threads on "slicks for MTB", "slicks for knobbies" etc.

Well that's obvious. Ya gotta put a 26" wheel on a frame designed for 700c to have a 26" wheel on a frame designed for 700c. Unless you can modify a 700c wheel to make it a 26" somehow. I figured it's just easier to put a pre-existing 26" on the frame though...

But the real reason: SLOPING TT!!!!!!

Actually, it's the same answer you get when you answer the question "What is the meaning of life?"

The answer being: Happiness!

Or, for those people with a glass of water that is half empty sitting on their desk, the exact point is to annoy them!

But I think it's a combination of all of them.

But the real reason is because I like changing things.

Cool! Thanks for looking that up. But I'm not sure if 1.5" is too wide for the fork. Is 1.5" truly 1.5" at the widest part of the fully inflated tire? Because if so I'll just measure the fork where the tire would be to find out. I'd rather have thinner, but if that's what I can get for cheap, I'll probably take it.

See, but I like the forward sloping tt like the Merlin. Looks better. More aggressive. More faster!!!

Backward slope reminds me of the look of my Raleigh Venture 3.0, which was uncomfortable, slow and heavy and goony imo.

A slight backward slope isn't a big deal, I like the look of my bike stock, but I think flat/forward slope looks better.

To each his own, but to put a 26" wheel in a fork designed for a 700c wheel with a huge gap between the top of the tire and the fork crown looks even goofier. Not to mention how this will affect handling / steering.

Walmart carries tires/tubes for old 26" road wheels. I don't know if they will have any that are skinny enough and they probably suck pretty hard, but they are there.

You could get a 26" rigid fork from a MTB. Then you know it'll fit. Or a suspension fork... And have yourself a sloping TT-fixed-mountain-road bike with drops. Haha.

If your not looking to spend a lot of money because your on a budget, just put the original front wheel back on and deal with the sloping tt. Now with the money you saved you can buy yourself a front brake.

I wouldn't do what you're doing, but hey, I have put too short rigid forks on suspension ready MTB frames before. The pedalstrike is exhilarating! It ain't so bad since I put a 2.1 on front and a 1.5 on the back, though.

Or the grandaddy! Strait pimpin gold tires that'll prolly only last 100 miles on pavement. You'll probably be looking for shorter cranks, smaller pedals or will have put your other wheel back on by then, anyways, tho.
