Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Something closer to a .308, actually (and no worries, they're hand-turned wood.) I have a .50cal on a keychain, and it's massive.

SO much wrong here that there is no need to list it. At the end of the day, rules or no rules, it is just not an appealing bike. Not

Was making a right at decent speed, around 20mph. It happened fast enough that I can't accurately recall if the BANG from the tube blowing happened before I started going down or after. Either way, it seems that the tire rolled off the rim, the rim hooked the ground and turned into a Pringle, and the bike high-sided me. I unclipped mid-flight, and landed flat on my back (mostly on my phone.) It was started and finished in what felt like a moment. Sore for a week or so, the usual scrapes and bruises, back on the bike a few days later, though. Upside to the downside, I pulled off that move about 200 yards from my house.

Could have been tube or tire or wheel failure, could have been spoke tension, could have been any number of things. No idea what.

Not too big on bike ascetics. I have some new handlebars incoming and 1 more silver water bottle cage (bought silver because it was the cheapest option). So, maybe I'll have a chance at redemption later .
New handlebars and another silver bottle cage will not redeem you.

Improper background
Improper side of bike to take a picture of
Improper position of tire valves in picture
Tires are not lined up with valves
Improper crank arm positioning
Bar angle is odd
Stem angle is too high
Saddle
Saddle bag
Saddle bag light

The bike has potential, but in the current picture, it is extremely far from a hot.

My reason for NOT on the white Specialized is that it is basically a stock bike that is not really very sexy or hot looking. This is not to say that it is not a good bike and it will likely bring the owner many hours of enjoyment. And I am not suggesting that you have to spend $10,000 on a bike for it to look hot.

OUCH! Glad to hear that you came out of it with just some scrapes and bruises and nothing else too serious. Still, it definitely doesn't sound like a fun time.

Well...submitting for the criticism once again. Yeah...I know, the bike positioning is off, this is the only picture I have a the moment. This was taken in the spring, went to a 5800 group with some new cables and bar tape...

Fire away...

I have generally ambivalent feelings about all newer Specialized bikes-- they all look inoffensively similar-- but there's something too matchy-matchy about this one. I'm a big fan of the accent color, and fully understand red-black-white as a theme, but this is taken perhaps too far. Ends up "busy." It is neither hot nor not hot, but something in between.

Whoa. I was not aware of so many pic requirements. Thanks for the info.

Now I know never to post a bike pic without my pro photographer.

By photographing it correctly, it shows off how nice your bike really is. They are not rules set in stone, but I have seen people chastised in both Hot R Not threads for not following it. Some of that stuff is just normal stuff, like tires lining up with the valves.

Even a plain bike will look really nice when properly shot. Not my bike, just used for an example.

I can definitely see that...the red is a thing some don't like. In person, some compliment the package, some criticize it. I either get the "Man, I really like that red on there" or "Not so sure about that red accents..."

The frame was an odd duck Team Saxo race frame replica (given that it's not the S-Works)...so it is very busy, that's for sure. That's why I just ran with it and will openly admit that it is super busy...

The red is too much...I'd go all white with black tires and stop trying to match the little red in the frame. Nice bike, but way too much red.
