Can I use rim-brake wheelset with disc-brake bike on rollers?
About to acquire cheap, used rollers and will probably get cheap training tires thrown into the deal. Right now, I have only the OEM wheelset with QR on my disc-brake equipped bike, so I was wondering if I could get any standard QR road wheelset to use on the rollers, or do I need disc-specific wheels?

You need disc specific - the hub spacing is different.

A new wheelset, leaving you with a spare wheelset, is always a good plan. There are some good options out there. If you're on bit of a budget, I'd look at something like the Fulcrums on the UK sites.

As long as the callipers clear the spokes you could use a regular wheel set.
Quite likely they won't on the front.
Your rear wheel is probably 135mm wide which is 5mm more than a normal rim brake wheel set so you would have to sort out some sort of spacer for that on the non drive side.

First things first, I brought the rollers home, now I have to try riding on 'em and see if I like 'em.

I used to have a set of Fulcrum wheels. Those things were indestructible. And loud to coast on, which I like.
I'll second @WhyFi about it being real nice to have a spare set of wheels.

My experience is that you don't really need brakes at all when riding rollers. Stop pedalling and the rollers will stop within a couple seconds.

Glad i read this thread. I was looking to do the same thing, but for a dumb trainer. I want to be able to switch wheels during the winter so when the weather is nice i can still ride the wheel i want to and have a wheel just for the trainer. I’ve been looking for a cheap wheel, didn’t care about disc brakes, but now i have to change that process. So thank you!
