Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". 2009 Bianchi D2 Carbon Cross Concept Tire Question

I have been looking at a used 2009 Bianchi D2 Carbon Cross Concept bike , can anyone tell me what the largest tire size is for this bike ? There is one near me for sale and I have been considering buying it , but ideally I do not really want to buy a bike that will not handle 700x40 tires .

Thanks!

Since nobody who knows has replied, I'll throw out an opinion It's an older cross bike and back then there would have been little reason to spec the large tire clearances that are common today. AFAIK, cross rules required tires much smaller than 40s. Looks like it came with 32s originally.

Here is a picture of the one I use to have. It had 700x33s and mini-v brakes. It seems like 700x40 would be pretty tight if they fit at all. You could borrow a set of wheels and tires and do a fit check before you buy. I liked the bike and road it for several years until I traded it in on a bike with disc brakes.

Thanks everyone that photo told the tale. It’s a good deal on the bike but I’m not interested in running 700x33 UCI spec tires .
