Clint - who is this person on the activebody forum complaining that I (and others, but I am mentioned by name) are inappropriately entered in the "Challenge" series?
From Crazy Lady
(Since I don't care a hoot about the "Challenge" I have disenrolled).
From Crazy Lady
I was wondering why people like Denver Fox can input miles after a challenge period is over? You should lock down the challenges to only those who participated during the challenge timeframe.
What is that all about?
What is that all about?

Whoever posted that is obviously a sore loser. if you put the miles in during the challenge, it shouldn't matter when you entered them, even if it was 6 months later. didn't go back far enough to find that poster's name, but you should drop out if you don't like it (addressed to poster).

that's great!!
I just found out that I'm in 9th position in the 2003 winter challenge.. Yahoo!!!!
Didn't know that it was there, until I read the post of mr. denverfox.
I think its unfair for me being in the challenge series, there's no winter here, only thunderstorms and typhoons..

I tend to agree. Once the series is over it losses it's "fire" anyway since folks are trying for the next one.
For myself, I'm trying to get into the top 10 of the running series by the end of the month. Should be do'able... but it makes me miss the bike more and more.
Keep up the great work all...

I really don't know why she, assuming she's a lady, was complianing??? Besides, if someone wants to win, he/she could always input XXXXXXX miles, and get away w/ it...
I just hope she won't mention my name... Or I'll just go "nuts"!

Just checking in .. .. ..
I'm only managing one ride a week at the moment (a combination of a one year old daughter, trying to sell a house and work prevents me from racking up the miles as I would like!) but the rides recently have been wonderful. I ride mainly up the coastline and in the mountains around Santa Monica / Malibu, and this weekend saw dolphins playing in the surf as I rode past Zuma beach. My route gives me a 60 mile workout, and I am aiming to complete it in under 3 hours to get the magical 20mph average (I must be very goal oriented!).
Anyway, if any of you guys are in LA and want to hook up for a ride just PM me.
Peter

My outdoor rides have been few and far between over the past few weeks, too. A lot of snow last week (and I don't yet have all the gear to deal with it), and I've been out sick for the last four or five days.
Looking forward to some warmer weather soon . Friday and Saturday look like a possible candidates for a nice ride! Temps up to the high 40s/low 50s (though in Colorado the forecast is probably wrong!)... next week I might even be able to start commuting again.

Clint-
there HAS to be something wrong with your methodology for computing avg. speed. There are two guys right in front of me who have more miles, and fewer hours than me - yet, their avg. speed is shown as LESS than mine - that doesn't compute!

She has her views on things, but lets not go so far to call her stupid. Not that I care really, just don't think we as a collection of people need to start calling other people stupid.
Since the sites been up I've only had one user put in an entry that was way out of park... something like 1,000,000,000 miles or something like that... I don't make a point to look into users data, but I deleted that one right away.

The only chage I have made to my profile recently is to not participate in the "Challenge" series. But, after I made that change, I could still see all of our weights.
Must be something in the programming of the web site.

Is anybody still seeing the weight as a chart? I was until this morning. Before this morning the weight in the weight loss team showed up as a chart, showing all members like the cycling challenges do.
By the way you guys are still killing me
I keep riding and my numbers keep adding up but there are 3 or 4 on there who are making it a real challenge for me to keep up. I think I've lost AZ cyclist, I could see him in the distance ahead of me but he's so far ahead now I don't know if I'll ever catch up... At least until wamer weather that is

I lost the weights a few days ago and then pulled out of the Weight team; too much going on on my screen anyway without adding an additional team as well.

Well, I just finished 20+ miles in beautiful, gorgeous, sunny 45 degree F weather.
Had to steer around a few snow and ice patches, but the fields of snow glistening in th bright sunshine, and the creek meandering through the ice channels was awesome!
Mike, don't worry about me! I am in no contest. Just keeping track of the miles!

No contest for me either just like to keep track of miles online in case something ever happens to my spreadsheet. Nice to have a back up. Also just finished a 64 miler today, can't wait for Sun to get in some more miles. Some nice weather is sure great.

Come on guys, there's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition is there? I figured I would be hearing more trash talk at this point heheh.
I'm doing more road miles right now than normal to prepare for an endurance mtb event at the end of March, otherwise I would have way fewer miles than I do for this early in the year. Usually my gang rides mostly mtb in the winter and road in the summer, mostly for comfort reasons (too cold in winter on the road, too many ticks, poison ivy etc in summer on the mtb). But, it's harder for me to train for offroad events on the mtb bike. Well, that's not entirely true, maybe I should say it's harder to train pure endurance on the mtb.
Anyway, it's cool to compare miles. I just wish I could get more interest up in the xc mtn bike crowd for some kind of challenge...

But, truly, I do not ride for competition, but for the relaxation, the quietude, the fitness and the joy.
