I'm riding a 2005 Brodie Romax with flat bars. It's made from aluminium but seems to have lasted well with the 145kgs I have. (320lbs)

I also have Mavic Aksium 20 spoke wheels which in fairness have been fantastic. I never had them trued apart from leaving the shop. These would never be recommended for my weight!

Riding a 2016 Wilier Triestina GTR SL. I bought this 1.5 years ago at 250 lbs. Currently down to 218 lbs now. My Mavic Open Pros with 32 spokes held up reasonably well, but after 3000 miles the rear wheel had to be rebuilt.
The Ultegra 6800 Hollowtech drive side crank also came apart recently after about 4000 miles of riding. The bonded construction just isn't that strong. Shimano replaced since it was within the 2 year warranty period.

2013 Fuji Gran Fondo 2.1
Started out the year at 257 on my Scott Sportster and moved back to my 2013 Fuji Gran Fondo at 247lbs, took the drops off and went with a flat bar.(Back issue) Down to 225 and feel good so the drops are going back on this weekend. Just bought these Bontrager Aelous comp 5 rims a few weeks ago, they have onyx hubs and deadly silent.

2014 Giant Escape 1. I don't know what the weight limit is. I am 240ish lb. I climb a lot and steep. 20% was a regular occurrence and we would climb the big ones in Pittsburgh. I started popping spokes right before I started on trips after about 4 years. I've never been back to the shop with this bike since purchasing it. Never an adjustment done since purchasing it. I replaced the stock rear wheel with a 36 spoke, brand I don't know. It was a $99 wheel. Haven't broken a spoke since.

I now ride loaded up. The pic below was how I rode the Erie Canal trail last year. Everything was on the back wheel and I could not pick the back up even an inch to move it to lean on something. I ride heavy and carry a lot of water (2 gallons with me on the most recent trip with a stop halfway to refill the 2 gallons.) Haven't had a wheel or spoke issue since I started riding loaded with the cheap 36 spoke.

For all the concern that I've had and I've seen in the forum, I'm a little surprised at how many of us are riding something close to stock setups, maybe with tougher wheels. I think I might broaden my search a bit when it comes time for the new bike (now sometime in 2019, unfortunately...).

'17 S Works Tarmac --- bottom pic is on the day I picked it up, ---- but at the fit it has since been fitted with the upswept Hover bars, their "Power" saddle , and black bar tape -- running older Look patent delta pedals and a Bluetooth "boom box" fitted to the underside of the bars for entertainment

Currently at 285 pounds -- wheels are stock Roval carbons for that bike , - not sure of the spoke count

At 256 lb.. 90/91 DeRosa with SLX tubes. 105 5800 group. ultegra 6800 hubs, mavic open pro, 32 spoke. Nitto seatpost, stem and bars (Noodle 44), Brooks Swift seat. Use spd during week for commuting and spd-sl for weekend rides

Still riding my Crosstrail this year. Been a rough financial year but am looking forward to better things in near future. Hopeful that I can afford a new gravel / touring bike in spring. Been back and forth between 290 to 300lbs, but working on a new plan to continue losing the weight. Had to replace the wheels from a 32spoke to a 36 spoke wheel due to attempting to use the hybrid as a mountain bike with my son.

I'm riding the red headed step child, 2014 Motobecane Phantom Cross Pro. I went through and trued/tensioned the spokes the day I got it, and it's been trouble free for 4200 miles. It's a small investment to buy the truing stand, spoke wrench and tension meter, but it's an easy job and cheaper than a new wheelset that you probably didn't need.

I've pulled my daughter in her trailer for at least 1000 miles (finally outgrew it and is on her own bike now), toured, and commuted. My weight fluxed between 210 and 230 during that time.

I'm 6'4" and two fitty.

Soma Double Cross Disc with a combo of Shimano LX, SRAM Rival and Microshift shifters with Alex DA28 32 spoke wheels, Brooks B17 and Bebop pedals (bike weighs 25 lbs). No bike or wheel issues. Ride this 90% of the time.

2010 Specialized Tarmac (Pro?) with SRAM Rival, Selle Anatomica Titanico and Speedplays. Just switched from my old Mavic Ksyriums to some Vuelta Zero Lite 36 spokes. (Bike weighs 20 lbs). No issues but the Rival RD shifting is more finicky than the Frankenstein setup on the Double Cross. I'll get some lighter wheels after I lose 30 pounds, but I was having confidence issues with the low spoke count Ksyriums (20/24), plus they were pretty well used when I got them at a swap meet.

Or I might sell the Tarmac and build up a Soma Fog Cutter.
