Where to buy jig cones?
My jig is a fairly old NorTac, which has its issues for set-up, but it's what I have and does the job (albeit slowly). My current problem is the head tube cones -- the OD of the cone is too small to work with a 46mm OD head tube. Yes, I could do the main triangle build on the table with V-blocks, but I'd like to get the jig working with the larger diameter HTs. Not owning a lathe, where can I source jig cones?
Side issue -- I've seen loads of cones on eBay, but they're all set up with 1" bore. The bar on my jig is 5/8"...
Thx

Could you add just a little more detail? If the rod that holds the cones is 5/8", does it have a flat spot where the end of a screw from the cone (to hold it in place) doesn't damage the round? Actually how are the cones held on the rod? Or is the rod threaded?

Straight full-round 5/8" center rod, cone are held in place with set screws (paddle-type thumb screws, doesn't take much pressure to hold them in place). No flat on the rod.
Here's a pic of the jig (not mine, but the same model):

Alex Meade has made a few one off items for me including head tube cones (for an alignment rod on my surface plate). He has been very willing to take one's design and make it work at what I feel is a lower cost then I would expect from a "true" machine shop. alexmeade.com Andy

Alex Meade is your best bet unless you want to go the bushing route. I need to make a new lower cone for my fixture, but I'm thinking about a set of different size pucks so frame removal is easier.
thanks for posting that, they have 1 1/4" to 5/8" bushings that I need for my wood lathe

dsaul, If I may ask, how much does something like that cost? I have some additions I'd like to make to my Bringhelli jig in the next few months.

I'll send you a PM. I occasionally do this stuff as a service to other framebuilders, because I know how hard it was for me to source this stuff before I acquired to tools to make it myself.
