Wondering if an original roadlink (or it's knockoff cousin) will be enough to run a 1x with a 46t.

My wife's bike is set-up with a 9-speed 11-42t cassette, 9-speed XTR SGS derailleur, 50/34t chainrings, and a road link, and it works great, b-tension screw isn't even turned in that much. I think a 1x 11-46t would be possible, though I don't know for sure. If you try and have issues with the guide pulley rubbing against the 46t, you can replace the b-tension screw with a longer one to get a bit more range out of it.
