From a high of ~270lbs, I'm now down to 200 and looking to lose another 10 or so. I'm 6' and currently weigh less than I have since middle school. Feeling great!

And here's my before pic - OK, so I'm 10 days in, but decided I should take apic after my morning ride today and use it as a berfore . Anyone looking back in this thread will notice that in 2011 I also posted a before pic, but never got to an after - this time I promise there shall be an after. In the meantime, here's me this morning:

Great work, everyone.

Started the day after Memorial Day (253 lbs) to today (213 lbs). A long ways to go, but it's been working. I've upgraded my bike as an early celebration. I've logged over 800 miles since I started. 800 mi = 40 lbs, I guess

It's more about the diet than anything. The exercising just gets you to the finish line sooner. Beer is my kryptonite. Cutting beer ******** sucks.

Wow! Some inspirational stuff in this thread.

I'm 6' and 4 weeks ago I was at 222 lbs. I'm 28 years old. Slowly been gaining weight with my "my married with children" lifestyle the last 5 years. I was always an athlete growing up/through university.

Time to make a change. I've been focusing on my diet the last 4 weeks. Not counting calories, but consciously trying to eat less/more healthy. I've been pretty successful at stopping myself from a snack turning into a binge. I weigh 214 lbs now. Goal of 180.

Bought my first road bike last week and been loving it. Just done a couple 13 mile rides on it, but hoping to do 25 miles tomorrow morning. I'll keep you posted.

Welcome back.

Not really a greeting most would want.

But, we're here for you, all the same.

I can't really be "welcomed back", as I haven't had a chance of getting below 200 since I was about 10. But, I'm back up to my high water mark. :-( Starting spinning again a few weeks ago.

6'3" got up to 248lbs and in July 2017 decided it was time to start riding again and change my eating habits so I am down to 180lbs I made changes to what/how much I eat but 65% of it was just cutting out the sugar water... I often work outside in the heat and was drinking gallons or sports drink and juices on top of big ultra high calorie fast food "meals" I am still shrinking but my weight loss has slowed way down... figure Im close weight wise at this point and will be focusing on exchanging fat for muscle as I increase my calories a little now that its warming up and I will be ridding a ton more.

... and a pound of hair too!

But seriously, consider this stat:

You’ll likely lose weight in the short term, but your chance of keeping if off for five years or more is about the same as your chance of surviving metastatic lung cancer: 5 percent.

Twenty Two Years? A constant struggle.

Hello all,

Started a journey last september @ 421 " Was also my diagnosis of T2" @ 11.8 A1C
Since then the last 2 are 5.4 and now 5.2
Changed eating habits and started walking
I started walking 4-5 miles a night. I have seemed to of hit plateau. It has been maintaining, but not moving.
Now at 359 , Still a long way to go.... Goal of 200
But now I bought a bike.
I will post a before picture as soon as I get it done. Hopefully withing the next couple days.

My real hope is this is something I will enjoy and will push be closer to my goal.
I have a friend that is an avid biker and he is giving me a lot of tips.

Encouragement is everything. And surrounding yourself with like minded people is key.
BTW : Bike is a Trek fx2 with disc's - Hope is survives me.

Sorry the pictures are so huge...

245 lbs March 1st 2018. We had 8 kids in 9 years that contributed to my weight gain as you can imagine. : )

210 lbs now after walking and biking since March 1st 2018. Now laid up with a broken leg. I'll be able to walk with the cast July 9th.
