BTW maybe tastes have evolved in the last 12 years, and I think the brown one's that were fawned over are ugly as doo doo. I was just barely going to buy some for $10 each and then was mercifully let off the hook since they were 650C.

Your cog is slipping.
I recently built up a pair of NOS pink Deep Vs laced to black Phil Wood hubs for a customer and was pretty stoked to do it.
There's still something endearing about that stuff, at least to me. I've even toyed with the idea of rocking some gold Deep V/black Phil Woods on my Bare Knuckle just for ****s & giggles.
