Using Sigma ATS computer with a wired bracket
Hi all,
Am hoping this will be a simple question for someone
I got a Sigma BC 8.12 wireless ATS bike computer. It has never worked out of the box, despite me trying everything to diagnose the problem - battery, position, magnet etc. etc. I spent too long sitting on this problem that I missed the chance to return the product.
I saw a cheap sale going for the bracket accessory for BC 8.12, with the magnet, wired transmitter, cables etc.
My question is, can I use the wireless computer (8.12 ATS) with the wired bracket (8.12)?
If I set the cable up properly can it transmit the speed as per normal to the wireless computer? Or do I definitely need that wireless transmitter?
Thanks!

My philosophy is to try almost anything if I have parts in my possession but not to only spend money for parts that are designed to work together. In your case, that would be a "I wouldn't do it."
FWIW, I'm done with bike computers that use a wheel magnet and sensor anyway. I've got a couple of entry level Garmins that I can swap from bike to bike with no programming necessary.

If the head has the contact points that match the mount it'll likely work. No need to mount on bike to check. put head in mount and swipe magnet back & forth past the pickup (reed switch)

Have you looked through all the
and product FAQ's at Sigma's site?
I'm sure they work well for many, but I'd never spend more than twenty or so bucks on their products as Sigma has little product support options and no community forums that I'm aware of.
As for sensors that use wheel magnets, I've used them for years and still do. Simply because I've never had an issue with them on either of my bikes. Nothing against the newer magnet-less sensors, it just makes no sense to throw away old for new.
If you decide to spend more money on another product, go to the manufactuers website and see what your support options are. Lack of a community forum where I could ask questions to other users would be a negative.
