Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this does not solve anything as the link you provided is simply a list of subscribed threads and there are no options to choose from on that page.
In Edit Options, under Default Thread Subscription Mode I selected No Email Notification, which is the 2nd choice. So in my subscribed threads it shows this thread as 'none' and the other three as 'instant' which probably means I'll be getting emails again when people reply to those threads again.
So, is there any way to fix this? I do not want to subscribe to any threads and I do not want to receive emails.

I was going to submit the same question - I suggest an option to opt out of email notifications in the user control panel. I looked all through it and find no such option.
