Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey Bah Humbug - I contacted Power2Max to ensure there were no compatibility issues with my crankset and Rotor aero rings. The response that I got was essentially, "yeah, they fit fine, but get Praxis aero rings instead - they shift much better... cold forged, yadda yadda"

Praxis only has them in a mid-compact in a 110 BCD, though. That would make my life 4% harder.

Naw not contes. There is a trek store off monticello it used to be bike beat. They have a pretty big following, The one in yorktown organizes multiple group rides, I would imagine the one in Williamsburg does too. I went to the trek store in Williamsburg a couple months ago and got invited on a gravel ride. There also planning a century gravel ride this spring.
I’ll just call them tomorrow, i’ve been wanting to ride in williamsburg it will give me an excuse.

It's funny - over on ST people crap all over Praxis and talk up WickWerks. The shop here likes Rotor and Praxis.

Hey, at least you aren't trying to get the SRAM aero rings I drooled over when I was starting; those were 54/42. There was no fatty/ novice option.

Oh, I know which one you're talking about - it's at the bottom of that tree-lined hill. Were they previously across the street? Haven't been there in a couple years, but I keep meaning to stop in.

It is weird - people seem to be polarized on Praxis, though far more love rather than hate (that I see, and yes, I've noted that on ST [I've been bored and looking at tire feedback and whatnot]). If I'm going to go Praxis, though, I'll be tempted to buy a take-off Oval crankset for cheap and cannibalize the (non-aero) rings.

And who you callin' fatty?!

Unless things have changed recently, Praxis and Shimano are the only manufacturers to cold forge their rings. Better stiffness, shifting, yadda yadda.

Tomorrow morning is the day that I’m doing a 40 miler. I might even go crazy and do 42 we shall see.
I pray I have some feeling back in my extremities by noon.

Oh. Well okay, then.

If I didn't favor the spacing of my 12-25, I wouldn't think twice about a mid-compact, but I do wonder if those two extra teeth would make me bail to the granny more frequently. I hate the granny.

Edit: ... and then there'd be two extra teeth on the granny and 36/25 would be my emergency gear. I'd better lose another 15 lbs.

If I consumed food on the road, I'd be tempted to do a pancake ride, but Velo Vol doesn't carry food.

If you're going to do 42, you might as well do 62 and knock out a metric century.

Not that I don’t want to do that. I don’t think the wife would be happy if I was gone for 4 hours.

Or... ride more.

Or buy a crap-ton of WW parts.

Back at that same time, I was envious of the Camp 13-29 cassettes. You still wouldn't like that spacing, I think, but you'd be able to run a standard crank then.

It's a personal reminder. I have a vintage Sunshine hub in need of a cone. I would like to build that wheelset in the somewhat near future. I have a shoebox full of partial hubs to choose from.

Saw marine one heading to pick up trump from the airport. And dc traffic sucks.
They're putting together a B26 bomber in there. Maybe they've finished it by now. I'd like to get over and see it, as my dad flew them the last six months of the war.

The metric century was my downfall. I could be out of commission for another month because of that metric century.
I'm off coffee though
