I picked this up for the Cyclone m2 derailleurs and was wondering what model of frame this is. The serial number is Y2M.... so made by yamaguchi in 1982. Seems to have chrome chainstays and fork if that helps. Let me know if any other pictures are needed.

Here are some better pictures, I think I just figured it out while looking at the picture of the writing, for some reason I find writing in pictures much easier to read than on the frame itself. I believe it is a 1982 magnum special edition and therefore a pretty nice frame. It does have the one seat stay welded sloppily back on but otherwise is fine.

I think I'm going to put lots of elbow grease and as little money into it as possible and get it back on the road for someone taller to enjoy, assuming I can unsieze the stem. The cyclone front derailleur has been cleaned up and has massively improved my Le Croco's front shifting.

Are you sure other parts of the bike have not seen fire before? Some cracking on the head lug as well.

Somebody added the cable stop clamp on the down tube. The proper shifters are, some version of aero downtube shifters.

Not dissimilar to these.

I really can't say too much about that bike in particular...mostly 'cause I don't know. But the single bolt for the aero shifters, to me, says 2x6 friction, earlier 80's probably 126 drop outs & nothing too crazy to bting back to life.

It screams phosphoric acid soak & bright yellow powder coat to me. Then chrome & polished aluminum acoutrements.

They should have been suntour cyclone mII symmetric shifters (these I think https://www.ebay.com/itm/SUNTOUR-CYC...wAAOSwj-Rb2EeP).

I'm fairly confident on saying it's an 82 Magnum SE after looking at more pictures. It seems as if there was an option for suntour cyclone or shimano 600 arabesque for the SE, but maybe just different years.
I found this picture, this is what the bike would have been equipped with originally (https://i.redd.it/uf6k82ceuz151.jpg). I'm just going to get it functional with co-op parts, de-rust and pass it on. If it were my size I might make it a repaint project but it's really just cheap entertainment while out of work and I can't justify painting it.

I took the wheels apart and I need a new front hub, good opportunity to practice my wheelbuilding on a cheap co-op hub.

It's a 1983 model manufactured in very late 1982. The 1982 version didn't use the top mount shift levers or the fully sloping fork crown.

Hiding out from the rain this morning, it's not pretty or fancy or even sensible (700c front 27" rear) but it works very well now and the rear is indexed.

I forgot to mention above the cracking on the head lugs of the other frame is from rust

There's the final disassembly step complete after a bunch of wd40 and some hammering from through the bottom of the fork which seemed to work well (I used a t-handle wrench as a drift because I don't have scrap steel rods). Also shown is the seatstay weld, I assume this wouldn't be dangerous just ugly and possibly making the frame less straight than it should have been. Not a deal breaker for a commuter bike.

I also went to pick up a hub for the front wheel and the girl at the co-op came back with a sealed bearing hub which I did not realize until home. It's too nice to build a wheel I'm just going to sell so I'll have to go back and ask for a worse hub! I think I'll build a front wheel for my rocky mountain with the sealed bearing hub.

Front wheel has been rebuilt, bottom bracket replaced, bottom of the headset replaced, rear wheel is next, I had a real fun time getting the freewheel off, had to disassemble it and pipe wrench the thing off. Anyone need some Suntour New Winner parts? Underneath I found an absolutely destroyed hub. Cracked in 5+ places and the deepest pitting I've ever seen in a bearing.

This picture was before adding chain, grips and cables, it is all back together. It's a shame it's too big for me because I did not want to stop riding it despite the mostly low end stuff on it. I'm not too happy with the rear hub and wheel, it feels fine to ride but when you spin it stationary it feels a bit thumpy, the rim also thumps on braking. Ah well, I've brought it back from the brink and now it's a functioning bike. A little more messing around with truing and I'll call it done.
