New Chain & cassette recommendation for a 21 speed 1995 Cannondale T-700

Picked up a used Cannondale T-700 touring bike, & the chain & cassette are both rusty. Any recommendations on replacements would be helpful...thanks!

If I’m doing my math right, you have a 7-speed rear cluster, and are you sure it’s a cassette and not a freewheel? If so, SRAM still makes 7-speed wide-range cassettes for relatively small money: https://www.biketiresdirect.com/prod...speed-cassette

I’d pair that with a 8-speed chain, such as the SRAM PC-850: https://www.rei.com/product/761159/s...-8-speed-chain
