Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh, I did go to Costco yesterday evening - I just needed our normally-scheduled toilet paper and paper towels, but they were sold out and, next to the empty pallets where they should have been, there were stacks and stacks of bottled water.

And on top of that they didn't even have any Japanese whisky!

30? You’re a goner. Nice knowing you. What size is that Schwinn of yours?

Well I didn't wake up dead, as far as I know.

Still feel like garbarge. No fever thankfully.

You should get yourself a sauna. They make home units that you can set up in a bedroom or so. My wife has one, I hardly use it because I’m always concerned about the electric bill, but it works quite well.

My first job was at a shotgun shooting range with I was 14 or 15.

Scoring trap, raking shells, and reloading clay pigeon machines.

I was paid in cash every day - a few years after I left there I realized that given the minimum age for working in Texas was 16 it probably wasn't necessarily legal for me to be working there.

They have built several large ones in center city Philadelphia in recent years. Almost getting as prevalent as Starbucks. There is a small one right next to my Philly office building and a large one across from the parking lot of our NJ office. They are breeding like rabbits.

I was just thinking about this overnight. I think a good sweat would really help, if only temporarily.

Sadly, I've got nothing.

I had a similar experience when I worked as a projectionist at a small town theater. I was 16 but was underage to be working around arc light and open gear machinery. It did pay minimum wage.

Why? I’ve never understood the benefit of dehydrating oneself deliberately.

I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole of cycling vids and have been fascinated (in more ways than one) with a guy that follows/films fixie riders in various cities. This one is starts out a few blocks from where I lived in Brooklyn and ends a block away from where I worked next to Union Square. They cover this ground a little differently than I did. When I rode, it was a heck of a lot faster than taking the subway and these guys absolute smoke it.
